Picked up a new gauge cluster.
Picked up a new gauge cluster.
So I have a '97 GXE with the black-faced gauges. At the local junkyard today, I found a '95 SE and got the white-faced gauges from it. Just a couple questions:
1. Is there ANY way to roll back the mileage to match my mileage? My car has 85k and this cluster has 251k
2. I noticed the cluster has these "titanium" looking needles and a different looking check engine light. The one on my '97 reads "service engine soon" and this '95 says "check" with a picture of an engine. Is this normal? I don't know if I picked up a cluster from a foreign maxima or something lol.

I know for a fact that 95/96 have a different check engine light also the airbag light is not in the center of the speedometer (although this may only be on 98-99s).
As far as calibrating the mileage, I think the only way to do it is to bring it to a dealership and show them that your car has 85K, swap out the gauge clusters, and have them roll back the mileage.
I know there was a way to set ahead the mileage, but I am not sure about rolling it back.

95 & 96 look different than 97. The early clusters have white needles. They both have analog odometers, but Im not sure if they are plug an play.
As for the odometer you may have to swap yours in. You can add miles and hope it goes back to 0, that would take some time. I think the tool is a wave generator. Its mimics the speed sensor, thus adding miles. Swapping would be easier.
