You should change both calipers, never just change 1. It's dangerous. Even a real mechanic will tell you that both need to be changed. That's a liability.

There's nothing wrong or dangerous with just changing one caliper other then the other one may fail soon after. That's the only reason a mechanic will tell you that and the fact he wants more money.

hmmm.... not sure why my certified uncle that rebuilds trannys and motors on hummers and tanks, that would be more than happy to do me the favor before ever thinking of charging me would give me that word of advise. If your front caliper seized up on 1 side, both should be changed.

maybe that golden rule only applies to trucks or army vehicles... MAximas are fine with just 1... Hey dude, I may have that caliper. I can let it go for 40$.

I changed my right rear caliper at maybe 110k, and then my left at 150k. What's wrong with changing one caliper at a time...? Logically, it makes no sense.

well really what the issue here is since one side is "brand new" its working in the best possible way....while the other side thats old will not be working at 100% so therefore you run the risk of uneven braking...logically speaking that is hazardous...so technically it is dangerous and i would not deny that..but i dont think there really is anything to worry about since youre not like road racing or anything...
