First time to the track after 5spd swap.
First time to the track after 5spd swap.
Hey guys, I just ran my car at the track last night for the first time. I wasn't too crazy about the times though, but after I read the stickies in this forum I realized I should have short shifted 2-3rd, could this dramatically effect my time? The car is a converted 5spd GLE with stock clutch replacement. I was running on a half tank of 93 octane and some crappy tires. I think when I go back next time im going to try to tighten up my K-Sports, lower my air pressure in the front tires and increase the pressure in the back tires, and go with only 1/4 tank of gas. And tips appreciated and let me know if you think this can help out my time next time I go to the track.
But here is my best time
R/T .486
60' 2.316
330 6.651
1/8 10.244
MPH 68.24
1000 13.332
1/4 15.954
MPH 84.12

Might want to check your KS.. I'd wager you're down on power to trap that low, even with a 2.3 sixty foot and stock engine you should trap in the 90's with a 5-spd.

No, the shift would not affect your time or speed nearly that much. Maybe .1 second and 1mph. Something is definitely wrong with that car. You're down at least 6, but more like 8mph from where you should be. 2.3 60' can use improvement but it's just fine for your first time ever at the track.
thanks for the help guys, Im pretty sure its a knock sensor because that is what the computer is telling me. I am going to replace the knock sensor this weekend and hopefully that will fix my problem.
