You guessed it the HID's along with the fogs. That sure was nice of Nissan to do that. I guess when the bulb goes I can just ***** at Nissan to replace it with their poor design.
Just thought you might want to know since everyone is trying to get around it doing that on their 2K and 2K1's.

AHAH!! You sir are correct! Yes definitely not too slick of Nissan. I am going to be visiting a buddy of mine within the next two weeks that installs stereos and car alarms (not a hacker either). I'll have to ask him if he could do something. I wouldn't mind if just the fogs flashed, but man those HID's are not looking too good flickering away.
Thanks for the info!

I've seen the replies by people who did the 2K2 lights on their 2K or 2K1. I'm not sure if their fix will work on our cars or not since the wiring is a bit different.
It can't be good at all having the ballast cycle off and on like that. That is probably why when you leave the switch on Auto the lights stay on for about 45 sec before turning off but it doesn't do it in the Off position

if anyone can ever get passed the not so smart "smart entry" car security system thing we have i say wire the relay that goes to the headlights to the parking lights instead.. or snip the signal input for the relay which goes to the hid's off... cap it off... if u had an aftermarket alarm i'de be easy for me to bypass it for your, but since you dont' and i don't knwo the schematics of the not so smart smart entry system i can't.. but if u can get a hold of the diagram and know how to read wiring diagrams than u should be able to figure out all that crap i just spewed..

hehe..
ground to body warrantied? oh that would be rich... I cant get a $5 relay fixed @ 10K with a $1000 Nissan Gold Plus warranty.. I don't really consider anything warrantied until I can prove it is.

As soon as ONE of the bulbs smokes, I'm going to track down some 6000K bulbs for replacements to make them stand out a little more.
The only warranty you might get is through Dave B. I HIGHLY doubt any Nissan dealer would warranty the bulbs.

Just a question. Seeing as it doesn't turn on until the alarm is tripped. Is it really something worth worrying about now?
I mean, it's not like your alarm gets tripped everyday or anything like that.
As for the warranty, i may have missed it but i didn't see anything under "exclusions" about the HID not being covered by the warranty.

There is a warranty on the HIDs if you have them on your 2K or 2K1, just not the factory warranty that covers the car, since the HIDs don't come with the car. I think you get one year on parts? Anyways, you might be able to get warranty service on them if the dealer doesn't realize it's a 2K2 HID on a 2K\2K1 Maxima.
it would seem...
that perhaps a full 1-2 second pulse is not that harmful. its just another cycle. whereas, quick short flashes would.. more like a flicker that would be peaking the amperage draw repeatedly. I could see that. seriously, they would have to have figured out something to release the car like that. Nothing gets past Nissan QA right?
*cough* transmission *cough*

I'm speaking of the warranty card that came with my 2k2. As Nissan would put it, "we cover so much of the car that instead of listing the stuff we cover we'd rather list the stuff we don't" and as such i still don't see the HID listed.
I trust Nissan won't screw us on this one.
