one_fast_max new PB!!

Video:
this run was my 1.82 60ft 8.3 eighth @ 84 and 10.7 @ 961000'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NxAIHdCPhI

this run is my PB...same as before but 10.69 1000' ...nitrous didn't purge evenly for some reason...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqijry6XftE

i went back to the track last night. i had tweaked a couple things here and there. i started spraying the nitrous at 1600 rpm. the weather was perfect! this was the same setup i went with last week as in 75 shot and bottle pressure consistent at 1000. i ended up getting first place in the import class night ...i was curious how you guys running slicks do burnouts with the open diff?? any tricks to ensure both tires to spin? NONE of these runs are with doing a burnout....i think i can get a 1.7xx if i can get the tires hot...anyways here's the breakdown...

1st run: slicks 14psi, launch 3200

60 1.95
330 5.57
1/8th 8.85 @ 83.44
1000' 10.94 @ 96.22
couldn't believe i got my PB on my first run wow!!

2nd run: slicks 13 psi launch 3800

60 1.93
330 5.56
1/8th 8.56 @ 83.85
1000' 10.91 @ 96.28
getting better!

3rd run: slicks 12.5 psi launch 4100, the car cooled for about 30-45 mins

60 1.85
330 5.42
1/8th 8.39 @ 84.43
1000' 10.75 @ 95.64

4th run: slicks 12 psi launch 4500

60 1.82
330 5.39
1/8th 8.35 @ 84.11
1000' 10.70 @ 96.82

5th and final run: slicks 12 psi launch 4800

60 1.82
330 5.37
1/8th 8.34 @ 84.27
1000' 10.69 @ 96.59
NEW PB!!

like i said none of these launches were with burnouts....so if anyone who is running slicks and open diff could tell me what yall do i'd appreciate it! also the car could trap 97 or 98 but i'm at red line in 3rd. so near the finish line i can feel the nitrous cut off and right as i cross the line its kissing the rev limiter....i need to extend it horribly bad!!!

You made some impressive runs there, bud... haulin' azz....

I've know the open-diff crowd to warm up their tires by locking the rear wheels while in the water box, spin up the slicks and move the steering wheel back and forth. This usually gets both slicks spinning.

turn the wheel back and forth while doing your burnout is the best way to get them both spinning. doesn't work every single time but most times it does.

Neal thanks man. i'm guessing 2nd gear would be the best to burnout in?

I don't think you need to do 2nd gear. I never did second gear burnouts. Some people like to do them though but I never had a reason to. I did them just fine in first.

Find yourself some race gas - Sunoco 104 works - up the nitrous to 100-shot, and you have a better chance of 12s. Try it at your home track first. But you are making great progress ....

You'll need around a 8.3 sec 1/8 mile ET to touch the 12s. I think.

thanks guys for the complements!! i couldn't believe how much better the car was running....i'm in love..haha every time i took it down the track it just made me love the maxima more and more

sunoco 104? ok i'll look into that for sure. i was just using 100 race gas last time. i want to get a wideband before i up to 100 shot....and i guess i need to get a walbro 255 fuel pump. i don't know....i'm running rich now it might be ok to up to 100 i just don't want to chance it...

grey i'm already at 8.3 so that's high high 12's...so 100 shot i'm mid 12's hu??

No guarantees on ETs - you dos what you can with what you got.... but the 104 is extra insurance for preignition. It's your motor, after all. If you keep pushing the envelope, then yes, get an A/F meter and Walbro 255lph pump, and an Aero fpr. Next thing is you can install another nitrous stage. The 11s are calling you...

Your track may have the 104, if they sell Sunoco fuels there.

That's just because you have mad tuning skills with the 93 octane ..... if you had a stock ECU, what would you do???

Heck, in this state 91 octane is the maximum you can buy in most cities...

If you are going to try the 100-shot thing, you really need to cover yourself with some installed safety features.

1. Fuel pump Walbro 255lph - installed in the tank - this is actually purty simple to do. Gets your pressure up.

2. Aeromotive FPR set up as bypass regulator. Regulates your pressure.

3. Colder plugs - copper core -with cut grounds and side-gapped to .035

4. A/F meter - not totally necessary with the above items and NX nitrous system.

5. Race gas, like Sunoco 104.

With these mods, your engine will survive the experience and you will really enjoy the experience. Your clutch may suffer.

haha yeah for sure i don't have money for that yet! haha.

one thing i've been wondering is how far or much can i spray just one stage? i want to spray as much as i can just one stage off the line. dual stage gets into too much money that i would rather save for a turbo...so is 100 shot the max off the line? is that the most anyone has tried?

i didn't want to start a new thread but i just got back from the track tonight...

i pulled my best 60' ever as a 1.80 !! but other than that it wasn't very impressive...

all of my runs were 2-3 mph slower in the 1/8th and 1000' and .2-.3 slower....i don't know what's up. it was hauling two weeks ago...i tried everything....even pulled an awesome 60' but it still was way slower....bad nitrous fill maybe??

t6378tp...that's what your problem was? just a "bad" nitrous fill? when i raced two week ago i just left whatever was in the tank for today....it must have had a bunch of air i guess....probably my problem??

here's some pics of the burnouts i tried...haha

sweet, looks like a dandymax burnout

the problem wasn't really a bad fill more of air in the bottle, what I would do is whatever I had left the bottle just take it to the shop and get it topped off. the problem was when your low on nitrous there is air/gas something in there that will build psi when heated but your not getting the liquid nitrous. I would have 3-4lbs left when I weight the bottle but it was not 3-4lbs of liquid nitrous and you can picture what will happen if you do this over a period of time. I finally figured it out when I purged the line and the cloud was, well no cloud it was clear and I put a wrench then my hand infront of it and it did get not get cold. so I opened the bottle and it took about 1-2minutes to competely empty got it filled and problem was gone

oh and if your shop does not freeze the bottle either ask them or do it yourself before you go

now get to a 1/4 track and bring home a 12sec slip

ok great!! that's definitely what my problem is. i haven't emptied the bottle for about two weeks.....so i just left whatever was in it trying to "save" some....i guess nitrous doesn't work that way. haha. well i'm so glad this is most likely the problem...i was getting worried about my compression or something...i still need to check it....

i'm still having some trouble with the burnouts...dang open diff....i guess it will always be that way until i get a vlsd....

here's my best run for the night..sucks i know but i was happy with my 60' and i forgot to open the cutout this run...it would have been a little faster....

60' 1.80
330' 5.37
1/8th 8.43 @ 81.55
1000' 10.87 @ 93.56

if you look at my first post you can see its way slower....the weather was great so hopefully its just the nitrous bottle not being emptied

alright guys....i feel kinda dumb right now....

i found the reason my car was running so much slower last time out to the track....my freakin 00vi wasn't activating!! i didn't realize my 00vi wasn't working because going from N/A to nitrous at the track you kind of loose the feeling of what the car SHOULD feel like. so i didn't even realize it wasn't working. i've been trying to get my cigarette lighter to work so i could charge my phone. and one day it just decides not to work....i forgot that i had my rpm switch on the cigarette power wire. so my 00vi hasn't been working for almost two weeks now....well i fixed the wire that came loose and went for a drive....Holy Crap!!! i forgot what i was missing!! anyways....i'm hoping to get to the track this weekend and grab a 10.5xx in the 1000' i just can't believe i ran a 10.87 in the 1000' last time out with my 00vi not activating....hopefully good #'s coming soon before i sell all my nitrous stuff. watch for the for sale section...all my stuff will be there soon!

?? So you're going to give up nitrous? or racing ? and you were just starting to be interesting...

Here's a thumbnail of my car at HPT, taken by the track photographer - hence the copyright line.

no!! haha...i'll never give up racing. i just want to go another route. i had fun with the nitrous so i think i'm going to go with a 3.5 + turbo. so i need to sell the nitrous so i can start building a 3.5. i'll still run some with the nitrous. i want to get at least one shot at it before i sell it. i'll miss the purging though........i'm going to come up to kansas city before i get rid of it though!! i would at least like you to check it out. and run you....even though i know you will kill me

OK.... well, the 3.5 sounds good - you will LOVE the torque! Heck, keep the N2O and purge before each run - even better, spray the 3.5 and skip all the turbo drama.

Sure, come on up to KCIR and I'll tow in from Topeka and we'll scare off all the Hondas and Mustangs!

Check the KCIR.net web site for their schedule - they try to run through November, depending on weather... And if you can make it, I have super race fuel and extra nitrous tanks....

It's official now - nitrous RULES !!! You gonna go for the 10s now ??

I have four 15 lb tanks and one 10 lb tank - all at the track - and I'll use one pair of 15 lb tanks at the track, so you'll have plenty to play with.... five gallons of 109 octane fuel and a fresh 15 lb bottle - it don't get no better than this for a nitrous junkie.

Be sure your fuel tank is below 1/4 full when you get into KC. You can leave your nitrous tank at home - Oh, all my tanks are NX 320 thread.... although I do have an adapter for NX bottle to NOS threads.
