01 GLE Sunroof Motor Problems (fuse not blown)

As the title says, I have been having this problem for almost 2 months but never got the chance to ask.

The motor still work, but for some reason it doesn't roll back automatically anymore. It keeps stopping and I have to keep on pressing it hold it, wait til it stops (moves about 3 inches before it does), And it does slide all the way back.

What's more freaky is the right side button (tilt roof when closed), THIS button rolls the roof back too. What the hell!

Anyways, anyone has this problem? Also what should I be looking into. I will try to WD40 the motor to see if it's the problem. Thanks in advance!

This happened to me back in May. I believe there is an OFFICIAL fix for this.

But what i did was DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL for a few hours, and it reset itself....

Hope this helps

its like tilt works but it slides the sunroof back, and the slide button slides it forward, BUT IT ends up tilting, correct?

PS
ON A SIDE NOTE, you and i have the SAME style rims, lol

There's a reset for this in the owners manual. I think it's under sunroof operation. It simply involves using the tilt button to move it and hold it or something like that.

This sometimes happens after disconnecting the battery. The main button doesn't work and the tilt only moves it a few inches at a time.

I've had to do it on my 02 a few times after working on it and removing the battery. There's nothing to it. I think it's the same for the 00/01 as well.

I just looked it up.

This is with the ignition on.

If the roof is open use the tilt button to close it all the way. Once it's all the way closed hold the tilt button (close position) for a few seconds.

That should reset it.

This happens on my sunroof everytime I disconnect my negative battery terminal. Don't ask how, but I figured out how to fix it on my own. I do the same thing as above, but once I get it to close/open, I turn my car off. When I turn the car back on, the open/close switch always works.

the reset procedure above only works for 02-03s, IIRC...

to fix your problem (I get it every few months), get down under the dash and pull the realy for the sunroof (it's way up under the dash to the left of the clutch pedal). Keep it off for a few minutes. I like to shake it around and hit it on my knee a few times, although i don't know if that does anything real). Put it back in

Sunroof should work fine.

If you need a pic let me know, I'll snap one tomorrow...

Tis true..I had the same issue with my sunroof in my 2k. Tried the reset procedure and it didn't work. Then pulled the relay, set ignition to on, then off, and re-installed relay. Working in perfect order now. The relay is a gray small box shape with the word "Nissan" imprinted.
