1157's, for those who cut the nubbs off!!
I just put some $20 polarg g-series bulbs in and was wondering if I cut the nubbs off, will it kill my lamps pre-maturely??.....I had the stockers cut and have since replaced them (the regular way) with the polarg. i've also noticed that when I apply my directional that the don't illuminate the second fillament! Any info, will be appreciated!
u cut one of the nubs (i believe it's the top one) and slide the one thats still on there in the opposite slot that it should go into, this causes the bulb to stay in it's "brighter" mode, like when u turn on the turn signal.
no the little nub isnt what illuminates the bulb... its the filaments on the bottom of the bulb... the nub just holds the bulb in place and on the 1157 since one is higher, it only lets you put the bulb in one way... by shaving the top one you can put it in backwards

Brother mine don't illuminate any brighter with the directional on eigther! However Nissan has 1157's in the socket!........If you cut the nub off and put in in reverse it illuminates the second fillament, which is 5 times brighter!.........I don't need the dimmer light!.....I was just wondering if it burn up quicker to run the the light in reverse?

One bulb burned out after 4 months... mainly because i drive with my lights on during the day too. One thing though... i use 1156's in my cornerlights. Maybe it makes a diff. i dunno. just as bright as the 2nd filament in the 1157. but it doesnt burn out as quick.
