Shifter bushing/swivel???
Shifter bushing/swivel???
What is the piece where the shifter handle goes into. It is under the center console; the piece that the shifter handle swivels in. It's a white plastic piece and I believe mine is cracked. I noticed a lot a play in the shifter handle the other day and I just installed new ES bushings recently.
Thanks for any Help

I did. When I looked at it the other day, the round piece that the handle sits in is not a complete "socket" There is a split in the back of it (6 o'clock position) and I'm thinking this isn't the way it is supposed to be.
This picture shows what I need.
The whole white plastic piece on the bottom; the shifter handle (ball-end) goes down into this and is contained to pivot within the plastic "bushing"
Where to find one or a name for the assembly, at least??
Thanks

he has an 02, so he would have to buy part number 34102 in the next drawing. I have been working on the short height shifter project, and there is a small piece of plastic which the shifter swivel ball sits in. (it should not have a crack in it). But to remove it doesn't look like fun because there are pins and a really big spring under pressure which would be very hard to replace. I think your best bet would be to go to www.car-part.com and buy a new "floor shifter assy"
Yes, you are right knight, I need #34102. I see that it seems like there are 4 separate pieces that contain the shifters round end, but they appear to move around when it is in gear. A lot of Left-to-Right play in the gears that wasn't there before. That is the piece that I think may be causing the problem, but at $420 new... it can stay that way.
It happened not long after I put the ES shifter bushings in so I don't know if it was prone to happen or what. AND NO the nut wasn't lose like some might suggest...
