Im not into all the high performance aftermarket parts for my car. Probably just going with basic pads and rotors from Autozone. I was wondering if anyone had a step by step guide to follow while doing this? From reading some similar threads, it doesnt sound too hard. The biggest thing Im concerned with is getting the rotors off. Some say they had to beat on them and others say they used a "screw" technique which was much easier. Can anyone fill me in on this? Thanks

 

My rotors always just came off, or at the very least required to slightest tapping with a rubber mallet.

Where do you live? I only ask because my car has almost never touched salt, though I imagine if you have to deal with that it might be a little tougher to pull the rotors off.

Also, use ceramic pads. So much better in almost every respect.

 

Smacking the rotors with a hammer will usually break them loose, if not find a bolt that threads into the two small holes in between the lugs and it will push up against the hub and pop the rotors off, usually only the rears require that though.

I'd recommend against the regular duralast pads, get the golds or the ceramic ones "c-max". But either way, my personal favorite is oem nissan though, 20k miles ago I did brakes on my moms '04. the front rotors were turned and haven't had any pulsing yet, for the average price of $12-$15/rotor it can save you enough money to buy the nissan pads and still be in it (hahaha, what up B-eaze) for less than if you get some china rotors from a/z

+1 for the hammer, that always works for me. never seen a a hammer couldn't match. dont forget to watch your dust shield, it might get bent a lil and it makes an annoying screech/scratching sound

 

Ive used pro act ceramic pads. Great pads for the money. Most good pads should be around 60 online. Many to choose from. Try tirerack.com
