Botched Alarm install: BCM dead....questions
Botched Alarm install: BCM dead....questions
1) According to the dealer and my alarm installer: the Maxima and i35 BCM should not really be "tapped" into for alarm installs. The dealer says the factory alarm is my best bet. Factory alarm doesn't have remote start or shock sensor...
2) The alarm instalers screwed up my install bad. When it was first done they didn't ground it properly, had to take it back. Then when they fixed that they left the alarm module unplugged/loose. Had to take it back again. They also wired the doorlock opener on the aftermarket alarm directly to my drivers' side switch panel (windows, locks, mirrors, etc). It looks ghetto as sh!+, and probably lead to my BCM failing before it was supposed to.
-Is there any "good" way to keep my aftermarket alarm? Tap into the BCM? If so, is there a pin diagram somewhere I could give the installers to use?
-Would the improper install of the alarm cause my BCM to fail @110k ? Shouldn't it last to like 300k?
I'm looking at a fire trucking HUGE repair on this one. the BCM alone is $1600 from the dealer (no one else sells the part) plus another $300 or so for labor.
The car is @ the Dealer now being diagnosed. They are supposed to call me soon and let me know everything that's wrong.

Yeah the bcm is not the problem....I based that on my searches of other people's problems...
The BCM can go bad when you add an aftermarket alarm right? Is there a way to reliably install an aftermarket alarm in our cars?
The dealer said once they removed the wire running to my master switch my electrical problems went away. It's not the bcm like I thought. Thankfully. that's why I took it in for the diagnostic.
Is the dealer right about my aftermarket alarm? Should I just pull it? Or is there a reliable way to keep it without putting the integrity of the car's electrical components at risk? I'd like to keep my Code Alarm if I can...

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMP
Can anyone answer? Is there a "proper" way to install an aftermarket alarm in our cars? Is it safe to tap into the BCM? Does anyone here have an alarm other than the factory? I need to tell the alarm shop the preferred install method.

Where are you located? The place you installed the alarm should cover ALL of you cost incurred at the dealer and the price you paid to install since the install was done incorrectly. Just bring back the receipt from the dealer if they give you a tough time just mention the word lawyer, I'm sure they'll soften up after that.
If your in NYC or close by I have someone that's done countless number of alarm install I've taken a few members of NYC Maximas to him and all have nothing but good things to say about him. PM me if your interested I'll put you in contact with him. Good luck with everything.
PS I would NOT take it back to that shop to do the install again

I'm in San Antonio, TX.
I called around to some other shops, and they all said they could easily install the alarm correctly. I am going to the original installer tomorrow, and get my diagnostic fee back. I might petition to get my install money back too, since it was phucked....
