First time at the track with the headers

Ok, I went to the track tonight for the first time since my new mods, and something feels wrong. My times improved, but not by a whole lot.

My best run of the night was 14.487 @ 98.89 mph with a 2.381 60 ft. My current mods are short ram intake, cattman headers, IM spacers/block plate, and timing advance. However, when I ran with only a stillen intake, my best time was a 14.667 @ 96.29 mph with a 2.336 60 ft. Is it just me, or should I be seeing more improvements from these mods? I feel like I should be trapping at around 100, and be in the high 13s... are my expectations too high for these mods?

Your trap tells me your car is capable of a 14.1-14.0 or maybe a 13 with perfect driving. I'm going to have to say practice your launch a little more. Your 60's could be better. The manual guys may be able to tell you where to improve your shifting at based on your timeslip. Are you running the stock exhaust after your headers?

you should be doing better.....i think maybe your tires were better last time you went? different weather conditions? all plays role in how you do. Next time you go try lowering the tire pressure.....goodluck

well, it was summer last time i went, and with the same proxes as before.. i was running regulr tire pressure at about 35psi, only cause last time i tried lowering my tire pressure, and it didnt help.. i guess i could try it again though

yeah, i went with him.. i know, i was getting better launches as the night went on.. this is the first time i got consitstent 2.3 60 fts though, so i knwo im getting better.. but i know that needs to drop down to 2.2 at the highest.. i was launching between 2500-3000 rpms... but you know, darryl was saing that the track wasnt right because alot of people weren't getting the times they were used to running.. but he got a very good time

You should look into dynoing your car and see where you are power wise.

You already know you need to work on launching so I'd just keep going back and working on that. Sounds like you may be too aggressive on the launch perhaps. I wouldn't be surprised if you picked up half a mile an hour to almost a full MPH from a better launch, you're either bogging badly or spinning badly - both of which waste time time and diminish your trap speed.

Conditions out in PA were extraordinarily good yesterday, like, insanely good, so you definitely can't blame it on the conditions heh.

this was in atco, NJ, and i was referring to the way the track was prepped, not the environmental conditions.. the weather was very good though.. on the launch mostly, i was hopping.. it wasnt alot though.. but yeah, i guess i'll have to work on that.. i just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with the car.. but to do that more accurately, i suppose it would be good to go to a dyno, as zack said.. i'll get that done eventually.. i'll probably wait until i get an AFC
