Car covers - what to get?

since i have to park outside where there's rain, dog poop, flying rocks, etc.. i need to buy a car cover. i've looked around the stores but they all look like crap and cost too much.. any suggestions? i checked out www.saddleman.com but there's so many choices, don't know which one is good.. thanks!

I just went to Costco and got one of those Fox Automotive covers...it keeps bird poop, berries and leaves from getting on the car. But the wax from the car gets onto the cover and the cover always puts wax on my windows now

I have been thinking about investing in a car cover myself . I have a question though, can you put a car cover on a dirty car? I mean, I don't want to have to wash my car every time I get home and want to use my car cover, thats just imposible, especialy in the freezing cold winter months! I have been thinking about maybe getting one of those "you build it" garages which cost something like $300+.

BTW I would think a car cover would scratch the heck out of a dirty car.

Of course you can put a clean cover on a dirty car. But the cover will get dirty and have some stuff on it that may scratch it when the car's clean.

I just don't use it when my car's dirty (especially when it starts raining). I don't see a point to covering when it's dirty (except protecting from UV rays..). It's a b!tch to fold up and cover by yourself though. I've dropped it on the ground more than a few times and looked like a dumba$$...
