300zx brake noise

Wanted to see if anyone had ideas on the 300zx calipers. The braking is superb, but on the passenger side on slow braking, there are very loud pops on engaging the brake pedal and gets louder as I press it. No noise on a stop like I would here with piston locking or the pins rubbing creating a noise. Could it be the rotors or the pads? It only happens when the system is warmed up as well. these are rebuilt calipers too by the way. Do I need to bleed the system again?
Any thoughts?

ticks or pops?
could it be a creaking sound?

A lot of times the pads will tick or creak as they rub against the slider pins if there's no lube or anything on them and it's metal on metal.

They are more of pops and it gets louder as I depress the brake on slow stops...anything else it could be?

Is it just one pop each time you press the brake, or several as you press the pedal harder and harder?

do you feel it in the pedal or just hear it?

Check your pads/rotors...I own a 300zx Twin turbo and the braking on these cars are awesome. Perhaps something is either loose or needs to be lubricated

mine does the same thing. I was wonering about it the other day in the drive thru at Carls JR. I was inching up and put on light pedal pressure to stop and heard pop....pop....pop....

It kinda feels like theres resistance then a slight release of that resistance, then resistance....

If I find out first, ill let you know!

alum z32 calipers + z32 drilled rotors.

I hear a little of everything, snap, crackle, pop, lol. Subscribing to this thread. Matty can you confirm these gold pins are the slider pins mentioned in your quote?

Thanks in advance.

I have a hard time believing that a little lube on the slider pin will fix it, BUT from reading your posts in other threads I can see that you know your sh*, so my stubborn *** will def. try it soon. Ill update you with results and possibly a soundclip if I can figure out a way to mic it accurately.
What do you recommend to lube it?

**edit** I also believe the sound originates from the pass side

well dismantled the brakes and cleaned the hell out of the pistons and around the seals (didnt take the pistons out). I re greased the back of the pads and reversed them as well and re greased the pins. No noise as of yet but Im still waiting. So far I believe it was the pads but time will tell.

I will try lubing the slider pins this weekend sometime, if not sooner.

I will NOT lube anything else for a couple days just to try and track the source.

Sorry babe. j/k

Roger, those are the pins I'm talking about.

Do you have the spring that goes between the pins as well?

That helps reduce squeals and creaking at low speeds.

Matt,

Thanks for getting back. I have to check to make sure I have the springs between the pins, and follow what everybody else has mention on this thread.
