rubbing brake pad
rubbing brake pad
i have a '98 I30 and I noticed a month back that i had more brake dust on my right front wheel than the other. note: i did a brake job in the summer (replaced pads and turned rotors). when i pulled the caliber off i noticed that the inside pad (closest to the caliber) was almost entirely gone and the outside pad had 3/4 left. i checked the sliders and the tested the piston and nothing is hanging up. i put new pads on that side and still having the same issue. what could be causing just the inside pad to keep rubbing and not the outside pad?
any thoughts?

Same sh** different year
Had the same issue with my 99 I30 limited when I bought it. Piston in the caliper was rusted up bad. Had to get another from the bone yard. If you go that route, find the newest looking caliper you can and cross your fingers. Make sure they'll exchange it if it doesn't work.
If the hose is "bad" you'd have fluid leaking everywhere. Chances of blockage is pretty slim.
The ones I saw in the junkyard all showed significant rust on the pistons. Manufacturer defect in materials?
