What mods do you regret?

So I was searching around for mods and what might interest me and I came upon an old thread in another generation forum. I thought I might be cool to do one for our generation.

I know when I had my old car I did several things to it that I wish I could have taken back. And eventually all my mods ended up going back to stock. If only I could have that money back. I bought a SRI and ended up just replacing the it with the stock intake. I put a spoiler on it and wish I didn't. I paid 500 dollars for some stinking 15" rims!!! But above all, I had an "APC" sticker on my front windshield.

So lets hear them, what do you wish you would have never done.

i bought a maf adapter but didnt like how loud it was in conjunction with my warpspeed y-pipe and cattman muffler. so i guess i wasted $15

on the flipside my warpspeed Y was the best mod i have ever done!

I regret going with billet grilles rather than the single upper Active-tuning one. They're roughly the same price (2 billet was about 300 and the active-tuning one is that amount shipped). I ended up putting my stock grille back on for the "sleeper" look. Ricer's are like..."What's all that noise under the hood!?" I'm like: "I keep it stock man, only stock."

Good question. I swapped my bronze rims for black/red rims but only cuz they had a different look. I dont think I have regretted anything so far though

So far I'm regretting putting Recaro seats in my '05 because I can't seem to find anybody that can tell me what I need to do to "trick" the computer into thinking the seat airbags are still plugged in and to activate the passenger side dash airbag.

Spacers with extended studs. They stripped out on me from have to take then out then back when going to differenct rims. So two brand new hubs and a ABS light later, I really wish I just had the bolt on spacers I have on now.

Removing my resonator and replacing it with a straight pipe. Epic failure on my part. Did not last a week cuz the interior noise was giving me headaches.

Halos dont seem to work that well with the design of our headlights, the blinker is ontop, rather then on the side. making them look wierd. but thats just my opinion.

^^^ Damn Justin, I think the only thing right about that setup was the bolt pattern...

I have no regrets, I keep it clean and simple.

I regret buying/installing my magnaflow 14807's. I wish I would had known about the Cattman full catback at the time then I would have been rollin with that instead!

1) I regret buying a EBAY grounding kit (that I just took off)
2) Buying real PIAA fogs and then replacing with cheapies that burnt out in 3 months (back to real PIAA's)
3) I regret buying TOYO T1R's because they are soooo good but don't last (and I can't afford to replace tires every 12 months!!)
4) Getting sucked into the Optima Red Top craze when it never really did anything for me and just went bad

I think that's it, overall I am happy with the mods I have done and the chnage I've done to date!!! Good thread!

Here's a pic too of the transformation over the years!!

It went from wanting the whole cattman catback to wanting the B-pipe and then slap the 14807's on the back of that. If things change, I'll be glad to sell them to you.

I read about the trick, but Ill tell it to u from memory. The seats have a cushion under the seat cushion which is an electronic device that senses someone sitting in the seat. If they are under 100 lbs, the air bags do not go off for the passenger. The trick is to remove the sensing cushion, and install it in the Recaros the same way they are in the OEM seat and plug it back in. Check www.my350z.com for info on how to do this. The 350z guys do more stuff to their cars than Maxima guys.

I like this thread because it lets us learn from others mistakes. So far I haven't heard anyone regret the strut tower bar.
