Totalled 98 I30...

So Monday afternoon, i was driving to my lady`s house. During which, I became the unfortunate victim of an idiot driver. He demonstrated total disregard for the safety of other drivers as well as traffic laws. This driver, (of the other vehicle) turned left across two lanes of oncoming traffic, without yielding or even looking. Milliseconds after he made this poor judgment, he became acquainted with my 98 i30. He virtually hit my car head on, primarily the left front. Lucky for me my injuries are mild. The car on the other hand, not so much..

The entire front end is smashed, both front airbags deployed, the windshield is cracked, etc. I talked to the shop that has it right now, and they said the estimate is $8700 to fix, needless to say shes a goner. So now i wait to hear from the insurance co. and see what they have to say.

I am considering buying it back, and parting it out. So i figured i would see what kind of interest there is for some of the parts. Please let me know what you would be interested in.

some info on the car.

124k miles Dark green 98 I30, Tan leather interior, Auto trans w/ VLSD, warpspeed y-pipe, pace setter b-pipe, dynomax super turbo, with factory hangers welded on it. (virtually oem fit) newer o2 sensors, cam sensor, charcoal canister, stereo worked great, heated leather seats and door panels are in very nice shape. Im sure there is other stuff i`m forgetting. Car ran excellent up until the accident.

I will get some pics up asap.

Sorry for your loss. That is rough. I think people are driving more and more crazy these days.

I'd buy your:

Passenger side fog light
Pace setter b-pipe (if stainless)
speaker system
cup holder

That looks like a hell of a hit... I'm glad you made it out alright. As far are parting your car out goes, I'd be highly interested in a number of things as I have the same color car.

From the pictures, it looks like the right front fender buckled, but it's hard to tell. Can you confirm this? If it's in good shape I'd be interested in taking that off your hands.

Besides that, I'm looking for:
--both passenger side fog and turn lights
--rear driver's C-pillar
--both front A-pillars
--steering wheel that's in good shape
--trunk lid in good shape
--wheel center caps

I'm sure there's other things that I can't think of right now..

Engine still runs great, trans shifts through all gears, etc. Driver axle looks to be broken, and the front is smashed real good. but regardless, the damage is more than the value of the car.

For those that are interested in parts, I have been super busy with work, and the weather here in pgh hasnt been to good. I will post an update as soon as i get some pics.

blktalon , sorry man, Im gonna sell the auto-dim rearview mirror as a whole, since its in great shape.

thanks

Parts

Sorry about your loss.

I'd be interested in the right front fog light if it's still available. Don't need the side light, just the fog....how much shipped to 20176?

Thanks man!

Impact : I was going 35, I dont know how fast the other car was going. The I30 took it like a champ though. It destroyed that piece of junk the other driver was wheeling.

I ended up buying a 2009 Civic EX-L, the gas mileage is nice, but i really miss the I30. The quality of the materials used in the honda doesnt even come close to the Infiniti. My girlfriends got her heart set on a new Altima or Maxima though, so hopefully it wont be long before im back in a nissan.

I will probably be on the lookout for a max or i30 with a blown motor in the future. The engine & Trans in my car still work fine. So if i dont sell those parts, ill find something cheap to put them in.

and thanks again, to everyone that bought parts from me. Im glad they are all going to good homes

i still have a lot of stuff left, so if you need something let me know.

Awful. My I30 was totaled from a rear-end last week. What's really a shame is the car is perfectly drivable, just cost more to fix than insurance will pay so they totaled it. *sniff*

Actually here is a thought. You could buy my car very cheap and use your rear end parts to fix it up. Or if anyone wants a great parts car or part it out yourself. Interior is near perfect. Drives perfect. Never had a single problem with this car. Has new struts, brakes, 2 brand new tires in front, etc. If anyone has any idea what I can do with this car, let me know. It will have a salvage title which the insurance company is requiring for me to get paid. I joined the forum two years ago thinking I'd need to learn all the problems of an I30.. turns out never needed the forum! Unlike my problem ladened BMW.

Did your front strut bar bend or is it supposed to be that curved looking?

It was bent in the accident. It is supposed to be slightly curved, but not that bad. It could probably be bent back, but im just going to scrap it.

I'm not parting this car. You can't do that in an apartment parking lot. lol. But would be a good deal to buy the car and part it. There's 2K in parts easily ready to be sold off piece by piece.
