Shift lock override? is there one?
Shift lock override? is there one?
So my battery is dead (lovely) last time I'm going through this. buying a jumpstarter tonight. anyways. car is parked in the driveway and theres no real way to access it with another car. and I can't seem to get it into nuetral. is there anyway to override the shift lock?

should be one, may just need to pop the shifter cover.
I saw the stem. didn't really get it to do anything. thought I'd break it if I pushed it too hard. ended up jumping it. but problems occur even more...
now my keys are stuck in the ignition. sucks. sigh. I think the guy that was trying to help me jump it (not sure why he needed to attempt to start it when it was dead) ****ed with it trying to get it out without knowing about the button....
sigh. such as me.
thanks for the help guys

I connected 2 jumper cables together to a car behind my car (REAL SAFE / smart.) and did end up getting it jumped. anyways I think my battery is either dead or dying because I searched a bit and apparently there's a release for the key if the release relay isn't getting power (will try this tomorrow) I'm gonna get the battery tested. so hopefully I can get it fixed. I swear i've drained this battery 10-13 times... prolly dead by now.
this is something i've dealt with back before my m/t swap.
ok here goes:
the shift lock release is at the bottom of the shifter in front.. my shiftlock control box died so i was using the shiftlock release multiple times a day. if it's not there.. well i have no idea why it wouldn't be
as for the key lock cylinder, it is electronically linked to the Park Position lever which is on the right side of the a/t shifter base. it's on a TOTALLY separate circuit from the PN and PRND2L switches that are mounted onto the tranny case, and has nothing to do with whether the car is allowed to start. all it controls is the key cylinder lock.. it prevents you from pushing the key release button. just pull off the plastic coverlet around the key cylinder and you will see a very small metal tab protruding.. push on it with whatever you can get to fit in there, and it will override the key cylinder lock whether the battery is plugged in or not. i've had to use it a time or two when i had my battery out of the car.
