To date, I still have yet to find what makes the G35 so much better than a Maxima, even after extensive test driving.

2001 SE, miss you!!!

I cry a little on the inside when I see that picture... 2nd fastest I've ever been was in that car. I loved the fact that I always got 25mpg, which is a blessing and a nightmare...

Ok well the guy had a 2001 maxima with the 3.0, so your saying a 3.5 G35 is a downgrade? I'm not saying all g35's are better than all maximas, I'm saying it's fair to say a g35 > 01 maxima

I miss my Maxima too. I still have it but I wasn't able to drive it this weekend because it started making a funny thumping noise on Saturday. Getting it checked out tomorrow but I sure do miss it!

I know this is not what he meant when he started this thread but I couldn't help myself.

Having a '03 Max and G35 currently, the G35 is a far better handling and riding car. The steering has much more feel and isn't overboosted like the Max and the turning radius doesn't suck. Plus, it's RWD. Total win for the G

I like the interior better in the Maxima. Looks are about equal to me, totally subjective.

+1 with the dog gone stupid turning radius. That radius is starting to **** me off more and more. As parking lots get smaller and more congested, I find myself having to make more 3 point turns. Sucks when my wifes Rav can do it without making a 3 point turn.

And go shopping for cars (like I am) and see how crappy interiors are these days. Seems like EVERY company has gotten on the "skimpy" bus and unless you drop some large $$$ you get a hard plastic squeeky interior.

Well said...I like my interior on my g better, but that's because of the Navi and it's got the 6 disc changer and a few other things like the dual zone a/c...

Our turning radius sucks I agree its funny how my moms honduh crv turns much easier then my car does. Every company's interiors are getting more cheap looking except the expensive guys. The 5th gen maxima is nicer on the inside then most new cars of its price range. its funny how everything just gets cheaper these days

I've test driven the new G37 a few times. It's definitely a step up. Better handling, better ride, nicer interior, and approximately the same straight-line performance when compared to a modified Maxima.

However, it's also $35 Grand more than my fully paid for '03 Max, so unless my car gets stolen or totaled...

And there you have it. The Infinity G37 is my "plan" if my Maxima ever gets stolen or totaled.

Maxima is much bigger and it's somewhat unique, G is just a 3 series wannabe. Not to say how played out the G is, specially in LA.

After test driving a few G coupes, I can honestly say I'm not that impressed. I'll take the Maximas interior any day of the week. The exterior is great, and the same VQ35 + a great exhaust tone, but the car felt HEAVY to drive. Provided, my Max isn't stock, but it has spoiled me. I wouldn't consider the G35 much of an upgrade for me at this point. Just my .02 cents.

I'm sorry i find this thread comical, yes Maximas are decent cars (I have an 01 AE and my mom has a 96 SE), but they cant shake a stick at a G35/37 (unless you are talking the super rare stripped base G35 sedan). I worked at an Infiniti dealer summer of 03 and 04 and have lots of experience with G's, I's, M's and Q's as well as the two Maximas in my family.

I own a Maxima so clearly I felt it was one of the best bangs for my buck but I'm also realistic as to what the car is and its capabilities are.

^^ completely agree. The maxima is a great car, and yes the interiors are better than the V35 G35, but as far as handling/braking dynamics the maxima doesn't have it...

I miss my Max too. Sometimes I see a silver AE on the highway and I just follow it around all day. OK. I don't miss it that much. I love the power of my ES350 but the fact I can only use it in a straight line is a little limiting .

Oh, I do not miss the craptastic turning radius.

6 Disc changer? Time to upgrade... iPod seemless control with a pioneer premier deck gives you 10K + songs at your finger tips. Keep the iPod in the glover and ride! No need to stop and change out your 8 track... err... cds.

Im driving this one til the wheels fall off...

I have been in the new G37 with twin turbos and it was nice but not worth the money to me. I like to have room in my car and the G35 coupe does not have the room.

No, Maximas, and G's. I am in love with my 2K Blk Max, but whenever I see a G35 Coupe on the road, I am so jealous of whoever is driving it. I believe the styling of the G is amazing, on the exterior at least. I have never been inside of the 35coupe, but I have seen pictures. The interior does have a "cheapish" look to it, but it sounds amazing and from what I hear, performs amazing.

This is hopefully going to be my next car
Also, Dont know how accurate this is, but I heard the brakes on the G are..."choppy." Dosent scare me away that much as a potential buyer tho...

I had a pearl white 99 maxima that I still miss. But I just need to take a spin in my Black 2k SE to forget about her. Just to jump on the wagon, the only thing the G35's are good for is the wheels that I put on my maxima. Otherwise it's just an expensive Nissan.

Agreed. And the rear suspension and brakes on the Maxima suck *****...oh, and there is much more road noise in the Maxima than the G.

I agree sorta. The interior is a little more top notch than the maxima but aside from some minor differences, not enuff of a diff between it and the maxima.

LMAO @ anyone that thinks a G is a downgrade from a maxima. Its more than just features. Its feel, abilities. The G was made to be a better car than a Maxima. Maxima is more like the I35. I miss my Maxima too. It had amazing space. Underestimated power. I would surprise people with my Maxima's. Now everyone is TRYING to surprise me...

I love my Max, it's a cool car....but my G is a sublime car. The Max does not compare. It's honestly not even close, the two cars have almost nothing in common besides the motor.

P.S. I love my Max, she's paid for and has a whopping 62K....I expect to have her for many years to come. She will be replaced by a G37S eventually.
