Extended Warranty - Did You Get One?

Did anyone get the extended warranty? If so, what did you pay and what level?

I typically NEVER buy extended warranties...except I decided on this one. I drive about 20k miles/year and with the standard warranty would be out of the bumper to bumper in under 2 years and the power-train in about 3. I got the 5 yr, 100k Gold Preferred for $1035. Their "cost" supposedly was $935 so I got it for an extra $100. I figure with all the gadgets and gizmos on this car something might go awry...

I lease my vehicles for 4 years, and always buy the 4 year plan so that I am never out of warranty during the lease period. It's just smart thinking to have an extended warranty... but make sure you read the fine print. It does not cover a lot of stuff one would think it might.

I read over everything pretty good and realize there is quite a bit not covered, but that is to be expected, i guess....I think the $1000 investment is worth it. At first, he quoted $2k and I was like NO WAY! But he quickly came down to $1500 then settled at $1035.

absolutley agree .. I haven't had to dip in to the extended warranty .. but it's worth it in my opinion too. I mean .. you wouldn't buy a house without insurance right? A Car is still a big investment it's worth it.

No, I have not and I don't intend on doing so because thus far of the 3 Maximas that I own (2000, 2003, and 2009) I've never had anything serious enough to warrant the type of repairs associated with having to secure an extended warranty.

Same can be said of the Altimas I've owned, Nissn builds dependable and reliable cars period.

I have owned a '94 and a '02 maxima. Even though they were used i didn't feel the need to buy an extended warranty. For the '09 i felt that since it was my first new max I'd rather just get the coverage just in case. New car first year always a 50/50 chances something will happen. Since i got the fully loaded SV premium with tech package for 31k. i felt the 6 year 72,000 mile Gold preferred package would be good, which cost me $900. its worth it.

Why would you need an extended warranty for a leased car? If I lease a car for 4 years I try to get a car with a 4yr manufacturer warranty. Do you put a lot of miles on your leased vehicles?

I GOT the 6 year/75k warranty. i got the gold preferred i believe its called, it covers everything, navigation, blue tooth, stereo, all belts and hoses. i paid $980 (helps to know people)

i got the warranty because you never know what could go wrong on 1st year redesign cars, and when i sell the car someone else has that piece of mind with the warranty.

I managed to get the dealer to throw that in with my deal I made.

I suspect they found a way to work the numbers and slip the cost back in with something else.

I did buy the Nissa extended warrant. I negotiated the price from $1,500 to $1,300. saving two humdred dollars. I believe it is worth it. Especially with the newer tranny set up

I bought the zero deductible 5 year 100k nissan gold warranty; the sucky thing is that they don't tell you the warranty starts from the car's manufacture date and 0 miles...I bought my car with 29k miles on it two years old, so really I paid $1300 for a 3 year 70k mile warranty....grr.

This debate is on every car forum and car magazine. To me, it's worth it if you have a big repair that hits you within the extended warranty time frame. If you don't have a repair, then of course it wasn't worth it...now tell me how to predict this and I'll give you an answer on whether to buy the extended warranty or not!

Bottom line is if it makes you feel better to have more coverage, then go for it.

I ended up getting the 10 yr / 100k coverage. Too many electronic things to go wrong, esp. with nav system and etc. I would like to say somewhere around 1k for it. I have to look it up.
