is there a reset procedure of switch for this OEM alarm system? I have 2 problems which may be related;

1) when car is armed, and the door is openned (windows down and open from inside)-the alarm should go off but did not

2) Cannot cannot start - suspect the alarm has cut off engine ignition - engine does not crank; battery is new and all fuese and relays check out

1) You have to wait until security light start blinking... takes a few seconds...

2) The car is not supposed to crank when OEM alarm is armed...

 

Does your security led do anything? When your system is armed it should sound the horn w/ one of the doors is opened. Do you wait 30 seconds after you arm it though? IF so maybe the brain of the alarm is malfunctioning or you have a bad sensor somewhere (there are so many)?? Also, check your alarm relays in the engine compartment by the ps resevoir (they should be labeled). I would also check the relays by the battery, maybe the inhibitor relay (for autos) or the clutch interlock relay (5 spd) is bad. Hope this helps. Good luck.

 

Thanks. It is good to know that this alarm has no additional switch - which means that there could be plenty of other problematic scenarios...assume that the alrm had gone haywire and is armed - and therefore the engine will not crank, how can I re-set the alarm?
