Garage Jack and Safety Stand - Lifting Points 2005
Garage Jack and Safety Stand - Lifting Points 2005
Hi Guys:
QUESTION #1
I was doing some service tonight on a 2005, and I'm confused by something in the FSM. In section GI-39 (General Information) it shows a diagram of the lifting points...called Garage Jack Points used for a floor jack. Those two points near the front control arms are very low, and I couldn't get either of my floor jacks under them, so what I used was this little **** looking thing close to the front bumper that is centered on what looks like the frame.
I'm surprised this little **** thing isn't shown here in the FSM, as this is the front jack point for lifting my 3rd gen. Is it safe for me to lift it here?
QUESTION #2
The safety stand points listed in GI-39 look horrible unless I have those attachments for the jack stands....and even with those attachments they don't look good for the body. Even if I bought those Kent Moore attachments in the drawing, they probably wouldn't even fit my 6-ton jack stands...because of the design.
Is there somewhere else to place the 4 jackstands onto the frame itself....or would the balance be thrown off. I suspect that constant hoisting on a 2-pole lift over the years, has produced rust areas from stress cracking and flexing, on my 3rd gen, they don't even use the attachment to fit the groove into the side sill.
