What type of car has your 09 Max been mistaken for???
What type of car has your 09 Max been mistaken for???
I have gotten several responses while parked. In one week they have been:
"That is the nicest BMW I have seen in a while!" (from a guy getting into his porsche)
"Is that the new Masarati?" (stretch, I know... but I had a witness!)
"what is that? the new e? (benz)" (some young kid trying to pimp in his mommy's c class benz)
anyone else?

One of my neighbors thought it was a BMW. One guy knew it was a Nissan but not sure which one (altima or maxima). He said it was beautiful. Another friend said that it resembles the Lexus from the side as well.
One good thing about this, this car is being compared to some nice cars. You've got to like that.

People have mistaken my baby Maxine Shaw for a Lexus. My own son walk up to a black and chrome Lexus after we'd finish shopping one day, waiting for me to open the door. I just laughed and kept walking to the next row. LOL.
People buy Altima's for completely different reasons than the Maxima and the Fully loaded Altima is nothing to be ashamed of, it also comes in the same price range as a base 09 Max w/ the same amount of performance.
HEY take it easy on us Altima drivers! I don't think anyone is jealous, especially driving a fully loaded Altima. I know I am not, I am just flippin amazed at how good the damn thing looks every time I see one, especially SV Sports with the 19s. Drool, then I think and look at my Altima, I'll take my V6 6spd Tech. But there is NO DOUBT the new Max is BAD ***. Its most likely a look of admiration, atleast in my case.
i dont mind the altima drivers out there who give the look.. i honestly still luv the altima.. esp the latest gen and the 2 door is a sexy *** car, IMO i like the way it looks better than the z's (well maybe not the 370'S)... But im talking about the people who JUST bought the 08 maxima.... for everyone else who has a 6 gen its no problem.. im talking about the ones who have the .. damn i should have waited look on their face or the damn i wish i could fork out the lil extra for the 09.... hey i luv the 6gen body.. to me it was the hottest car around until the 09 came out... im actually still thinking about getting the 08 black on black.... im even looking for the original grille for it(the ugly tooth grille)... so yeah im not way picking on those two cars... but im saying i do get dirty looks from drivers of the new altimas and 6gen maximas... but hey.. no biggie
oh and just today i had a guy ask me if it was then new volvo....

I took the Nissan and Maxima rear trunk badges off the car ( I de-badge almost all my cars when I get them) so I've had a bunch of people ask me what kind of car it it. No one has said "Nice BMW/Lexus/Infiniti, etc". It's a little weird how much attention this car gets. I drive an Audi RS6 (twin turbo currently 530HP) and don't get nearly the attention in my 290HP Maxima. Nissan did a good job with this car and I'm happy with it as my daily driver.
Funny, I just saw one on the road for the first time and said to myself, "what car is tha....... oh, its an 09 Maxima", AWESOME.
But it is true that there doesn't seem to be many for a car that's been available for 8 or 9 months.

I agree with the economy statement.
When I bought my '09 Max there were only (5) on the lot at a very large dealership here in Atlanta. I was also the only person at the dealership for about 3-4 hours.
The Maxima's radical new design + poor economy = few new Maximas on the road.
Once the economy starts to bounce back we'll see many more I'm sure. I've seen 4-5 already in just the first month of ownership of mine.

Oh I never meant that it was anything to be ashamed of. The Altima is a great car and I really like the styling.
Rumor has it that there will be an "R" Version with a six speed manual and some suspension/engine tuning and ground effects but it has been shelved for now with the slow new car sales. Also the Hybrid Engine from the Altima Hybrid this Summer in the Max? Can anyone confirm this?
