How many O2 sensors are there on a 98 Maxima SE? I replaced 1 at 80,000 miles, 1 at 120,000 miles, and now I am replacing another 1 at 120,500 miles. $250 each time installed at my mechanic, which includes the check engine light diagnosis and reset.

 

1st you may get flamed for not searching first. you have 3 only, if not not mistaken only the 99 cali spec maxima have 4. $250 is a total rip off for a o2 sensor. its a 10-20min job. it only takes 20min if the o2 sensor is rusted. you can get an new o2 for like $65-70 shipped. o well whats done is done. just dont go back to the same place bc thats kinda high. i say $100 high and thats paying them 1hr time for 20min job.

 

$250 each installed? Damn. Just do it yourself, it's extremely easy, and you'll be paying less than half of what you are now.

And you're actually paying to read and reset the CEL codes? Read the stickies. you can do it yourself for free in 5 minutes.

You only have 3 sensors.

 

Let me be your new mechanic, i'll only charge $200 each..lol. Do not go to that mechanic again, not even for an oil change.
