I love my car
I love my car
I have a 96 Maxima, black 5spd that I've owned since October of 2006. It was/is my first car and exactly what I wanted - a discreet looking sedan with a manual transmission.
A year ago I almost made the mistake of selling the Maxima for a 2002 540i which was eventually (thankfully) sold from underneath me. Then another close call as I looked at a 2003 330i. That didn't go through as I didn't want to dip into my investments to finance the car. So there I was with a car that I had gotten kinda bored with, and a little dismayed that I didn't have the car I thought I wanted. Things have changed now.
A little older, and a little wiser, I came to appreciate the fact that I'm driving a car that I'm not making monthly payments on. The bimmers are not bad cars by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not the right car for me at this point in time. My Maxima still looks good after a wash and also gets me a miserly 25mpg. Previously mechanically inept, I've at least learned how to do my own oil changes and feel a sense of pride each time I do it.
I still want a bimmer (a 135i now
), but I'm happy with my Maxima and the bimmer can wait until my budget comfortably allows for it.
I have a feeling that I'll never be able to sell my Maxima ... at only 253,000 KMs, she's just getting broken in and I've grown rather attached to her in the 100,000 KMs that we've been together. I still get complimented on the leather, seated seats, sunroof, stock Bose sound system, AND the fact I can drive a manual
hahaha.
I may not be the type to scream and shout, but make no mistake; I love my car.

Don't you love the look of a well used car?!

Good for you.
BC is a good place to love cars. They don't rust out over there.
Here in Toronto you can love a car all you want but if you use it in all seasons there comes a point where you cant love it anymore ( youre 96 would definitly be at that stage)
So if you're payment free, and the car is behaving, then why wouldn't you love the car?

......... But i love how 5th gens look........
reasons why i hate/love my max: 1. had it for 4 years and its cost me nearly 12,000 in repairs and body work 2. love the color and the body style. 3. hate the stupid "kick" i get when accelerating from 2nd to 3rd 4. love the interior/ aftermarket stereo with heated seats in winter 5. hate how im at 190,000 and after my last oil change the engine knock is louder at start up then ever before. and 6. i finally have an older car that looks better than some newer cars!!!!
I love my 4G Maxima. I got it in Sept '06 and it's the car that I've had the longest (while still being drivable, I have a '74 Nova I've had since '04 but the motor's blown) and given me almost no issues (until recently). I knew when I was looking for a car I wanted something that I knew would be reliable, fun to drive(aka manual tranny), discreet, get decent mileage, would be cheap on insurance and had a good amount of power and torque. Since I had less than $4k to spend on a car, a Maxima fit the bill exactly, as it was one of the few cars in that price range to come with a V6 and a manual transmission.
4G Maxima FTW
4G Maxima FTW
thats what im doing minus the turbo

I love how the midrange sounds at part throttle, it sounds nothing like a 3.0L V6!
I love how well the leather seats hold up in these cars.
I love the interior room, especially the headroom. Trunk is huge too.
I love that I always get between 24 and 29 mpg.
I love the passing power in 5th gear, just toe in a bit and watch the speedometer swing up silently and effortlessly.

It's actually a combination of laziness (thanks to fulltime work and part time school) and subzero temps. The sunshine is deceiving - it was f'in COLD this past winter. I just recently washed my car and she is looking all good again

Gotta co-sign on this topic! I love my 5spd max!!! It was exactly what I wanted when I bought her in 1999...and 10 years later I still look at my car as if she just came off the show room floor. I have friends that have been through 3 or 4 cars in the length of time that I've owned my max. She just keeps going and going! This 1995 maxima is the only car that I've ever owned!!! Yes I can go get a new car if wanted. But I don't want that "new car note" that comes with a new car.lol Besides I think the 4th gen has proven it can look timeless with a few mods and if taken care of properly. Finding the org only fueled my desire to learn more about the max and how she performs. The org has turned me into a maxima enthusiast and a DIY'er.
This thread is hilarious. I can't really say anything because you guys already took my sentences. LOL, Might as well buy another max if anything happens to this one. I think maxima owners are the most satisfied vehicle enthusiasts on the planet. I mean, how many people do you know would want to replace their car with the exact same one if something were to happen to it lol.

+1
Why trade or sell your maxima for a Z when you can just get one?
They're cheap these days.

They're cheap these days.
