Wheel Offset Question: best 1?

Please Help,

Trying to get a handle on this - I've already done a search I didn't find what I need, so please don't suggest that.

What is the best wheel "offset" for a 1995 Nissan Maxima SE in a 17" aftermarket wheel? I've seen some people post in a separate thread that they thought their +35mm offset wheels stuck out of the front wheelwells too far, but I've seen other people say an acceptable range for offset is +35 - +40mm.

Ok, if that's the "range", what within that range is the "best" for this car?

I would guess a +38mm, but again, it's just a guess. Someone who KNOWS, please enlighten me.

Thanks to all. . .

It is 40mm...

Look inside your owners manual and nex to the stock wheel sizing it says the optimum offset (and stock offset) is 40mm. Anywhere from 37mm-43mm will fit fine, but if you want it to be perfect (like me) you need a 40mm offset.

Thanks very much for the info. Cyrus. I'm a bit of a perfectionist too. -Much appreciated.

40mm is perfect. Most bargin rims out there are made for Honda/Acuras. They usually have 42mm-45mm offset.
