Anyone with HID's in stock A32 Foglights (1998)
So one of my fog light bulbs finally blew out; use it frequently for over 10 ears
. Figure I try out the $50 HID kit instead of a walmat H3 bulb.

I'm just not sure how well the stock fog light housing/glass will hold up to the heat. Anyone running HIDs for for light? It is bright and does it offend oncoming traffic (guessing it shouldn't since it is so low but not sure if the reflector changes the light pattern).
Thanks.

I was running them in mine. They seemed to look better and had less glare than when I had them in my stock 4th gen Maxima fogs. Had 35w kits in them. They were brighter but not too much more. The projectors with HID's still overcame the fogs.
I have a 35w 3000K H3 HID kit in the housing and it is noticably brighter. The beam concentrates more to the sides than it projects forward.
Hey, I believe you have the exact kit from the GB, right? Can you tell me what 'brand' it is? Do you have some pics of the kit? I wonder how it compares to the generic stuff on ebay for about the same price, if not cheaper.
Just aim them properly - I realized while doing my retrofit that my foglights were aimed very high, so they were as high as my low-beams after about 25 feet.
The chrome is definitely damageable... I bought a pair cheap where all the chrome had flaked off one. Not sure if it was from a HID kit or if someone had put in a 85w halogen or something.
IMO you should check the aiming on them, and check periodically that the chrome isn't flaking off. If it is, you'll see black spots on the reflector when you look through the glass, and small chrome flakes accumulating on the bottom of the housing.
The $50 Umnitza kit is standard ebay rebased bulbs, and knock-off Hella gen 3 ballasts. Mine's holding up decently... obviously it's not as nice as my Matsu****a/Philips OEM setup, but at half the price, it wasn't bad.

Nah, I bought mine off ebay some years ago. Can't remember the brand. I'll find some pics and post it.
