I think I remember reading that 5th gen rings fit 4th gens too.. Can anyone confirm??

I don't know about confirming that, but you web site listed above shows the gauge in the last photo from a 95-97 Maxima. 98+ had digitial gauge on the tach for the milage. I think that might be a yes to your question.

the ones from paradox do work on the 95 to 99 gauge cluster, even though they say there for 00 to 01 maximas. i got mine from there and they fit perfectly on there
