Cash for Clunkers question
Cash for Clunkers question
Do you guys think it is worth trying to trade in my 96 Maxima, and getting the govt. rebate? or could i possiblly get more than $4500 on the open market? It's an auto with 170,000 miles, and some stories to tell!
My dad traded in his 91 f-150 and got 4500 for it.
But he bought a hyundai.................
I was trying to convince him to buy a altima but my mom wanted a "korean" made car
To qualify, traded clunkers have to get no more than 18mpg average city/hwy. I don't think yours qualifies. If it does, they will take your car, seize the engine and shred the car. I think the worse the mpg average the more $$$ you get, but not more than $4500.
thank you guys for all your answers. Even though our maxima's are rated for 21-22 mpg, i'm positive mine is worse than that but oh well, i guess she gonna have to last me another 170k+ miles.
thanks to all!!!
thanks to all!!!
I don't think the "clunkers" program was planned very well. How could they not expect there to be a huge demand for this? I'm sure they will do it again, but yeah I don't see a 96 Max as being a clunker. A 93 Sentra on the other hand...
theyre trying to get an extra 2 billion into the program. i believe it passed the house and now the bill is in the senate for a vote. i would just keep your maxima till it dies. itll save you more than what youd get for it.
I'm sure your dad chooses the type of car/truck that HE is driving and working on.
Don't get me wrong, I like my Nissan but Hyundai is not as bad as they once were. They have a better customer satisfaction rating in 2009 than Nissan.
