that is definelty not normal, the hose should retain its poise during heat or cold temps, i suggest changing your hose.

have you actually checked your coolant level?

when the car is off and cooled down remove the radiator cap and see if the hoses go back to normal. if it does its probably the fluid level.

Regardless of fluid level, your hoses should not collapse. Does the hose feel okay? Have you ever replaced the rad cap?

When the engine is hot it'll push coolant into the reservoir, after it cools down it'll pull coolant back in. A cap could get plugged and not allow coolant back in.

Hoses are oem/older in the least but are pretty firm.
Fluid level is fine..Always at the top.
rad cap is brand new, Along with the t - stat, rad and fans.
If i pull the cap off after its cooled the hoses will go back into their normal shape..Can it be possible that the cap is holding too much pressure inside the rad and making the hoses collapse ?

Not that it's holding 'too much' pressure (in reality it's holding too little, the system is under a vacuum hence the hose collapsing). The cap just isn't working properly, most likely.

Why did you replace the cap? What type? Try a different cap, and make sure the hose to the reservoir isn't blocked up, same with the port on the filler neck.

Also make sure the hose to the reservoir is not clogged up.

does the fluid level change from cold to hot to cold engine? if not, something is blocking fluid passage somewhere. sounds like the cap is the culprit in that case. check the overflow hose into the expansion reservoir for clogs as well. GL

I bought my Max wrecked.
the entire front end was smashed.
So i replaced almost everything in the front end.
The rad cap is the one the new radiator came with.

Fluid doesn't change from cold - hot.

reservoir hose and/or actual reservoir is not clogged.

I ordered new silicone hoses and a cap tonight..
We'll see how these guys work out for me.

this could have been happening for a while now, but you just noticed it, right? so you don't know if this could be related to another problem as a result of that accident? have you had your cooling system flushed to see if there are any other problems?

what about your coolant temperature? where is the needle when you are hot and driving, does it stay where it is supposed to be?

ya It's very possible i just haven't noticed it.

I flushed the cooling system when we rebuilt the front end..and like i said
The radiator, fans ..all that is new so..It s really just the block i flushed.

And yes the temp gauge stays right in the middle pretty much all the time.
Being as it s a V6 it heats up quick but stays where it should be.

I was thinking maybe the water pump was goin out and somehow had something to do with it..But Theres no sign that it would be the pump..so..
[Thank God]

On a side note is there an upgrade or better water pump than oem..I've heard that the water pump is something almost every maxima owner will eventually have to r & r.

But anyways...Still waiting on new hose/caps...... =/

Well..I replaced the hoses with OBX reinforced silicone hoses and the cap with a 13 lb rad cap...The one off of ebay was 0.9 lbs..So I'm sure it was the cap.
In any case, All is well. =]

.9 PSI? Can you take a picture?

I'm quite sure it's .9 bar, not PSI. .9 bar ~= 13 PSI.

That is a sign of a bad hose nothing else. When hoses go bad they will rupture, crack or swell. Yours is swelling causing the hose to collapse in another place. Glad you bought new ones that thing is ready to blow!
