Wiper Problems Part 2

So guys remember that wiper problem that the dealer and you guys thought was a wiper switch? (wipers would roll halfway and stop during intermittent mode instead of roll up and back down)

replaced the switch.

same problem, although not as bad as before? for one, when i use the washer function, the wipers go up and down normal (for the most part)

i seriously doubt i got a defective switch so what else could be wrong? ruled out a motor because the wiper works fine speed 2 and speed 3, so what the freak?

any ideas?

sounds weird... best guess would be to check all the wiring connections and fuses. Good luck...

Same problem with mine. Once I get the wipers going in the normal mode, they will work in the intermittent mode too.

The motor controls the home position not the switch. In int. mode the switch just pulses the motor, it sweeps and returns home.

If the wipers don't return home after the switch is turned off, or the int. settings don't work correctly, the motor is at fault.

Replace the wiper motor.

well when i put it in intermittent mode, i can hear the "click" sound from the switch pinging the motor to move, it seems like the pinging is off. I'll replace the motor when i find money because apparently i just wasted $70 on a wiper switch.

or i can just not use intermittent mode ever (when it rains in AZ, it pours anyways). so this is just my luck, idiot dealer and their stupid useless diagnosis.

Same boat here with my 2002, also in AZ so the wipers don't get used often, except this time of year, and if it's not raining hard enough for wipers on high, it's only sprinkling enough for intermittent use, and even low is overkill. I was going to try replacing the relay first.

maybe you could see if their is a relay or something that might be at fault look at the relay box under the hood where the relay for the lights are located.

How do you use this 'intermittent' mode? Was it an option on our Maximas?

So has anyone resolved whether the stopping is due to a bad wiper motor or a bad relay?
