just venting...but HEY THERES PICS!

I'm venting....So I get out of work yesterday and my car has a HUGE dent in the bumper, tons of scrapes, and I'm pissed. Someone hit my car and took off. My side marker is on the ground and one of the wires ripped apart so that doesn't work now. Also the scrapes go across the headlight too. Then I Call the insurance and I gotta pay a $500 deductable (which I don't have of course).

I'm already saving money to replace my tires ($600 for cheaper ones) and now I gotta do this too. I banged out the dent best I could and its mostly scrapes. I'm thinking about just leaving this alone because I can't afford to fix it. I really could have done without this.
Thanks for letting me vent.

OUCH man thats harsh. Sorry to see that happened. On the brighter side of things it looks like alot of paint transfer so it should clean up okay. If you see anybody with your paint on thier white car smash out the windows and slash the tires- fckers...

It was the white car!! Anyway, some claybar and some polish should make it look a lot better and get rid of the white paint. Some plastic polish for the headlights would get that off. Good luck.

yeah all the white paints off....damn white cars. headlights look alright too. Bumper is ruined but o well. Worst part is (besides the wires ripping apart so side marker won't work) is that the bumper must have changed shape SO slightly that the side marker will fall out if I kick the bumper lol.

No $500 so its staying like this for a while.

Do you not have any cameras monitoring the parking lot at work that could potentially have picked up the car that hit you? Just a suggestion...

Hit and run should be covered under uninsured motorist (if you have the coverage). Same **** just happend to me and under UM coverage I only pay $250 vs the $500 for collision damage. Just a thought check it out.

That blows.

If you see a car running around with swapped paint, slash their effing tires and. That's ridiculous. If I ever hit someone, I'd at least leave a note so we could work something out...

I know, the argument's going to be "You say that now..." but I've already had someone crush the rear bumper on my Max and not say a thing. And I know how much that sucks, so...

People are so inconsiderate. One thing I'm really getting tired of is people who don't give a **** about their cars, so they just throw their doors open into the side of my car when they park next to me.

Just because you don't give a flying fck about your car, doesn't mean I don't about mine. I'm getting tired of having to buff a rainbow of colors out of my doors every time I wash my car...

i want a $0 deductible, you can do it but you'll be paying so much in monthly payments that it won't be worth it. insurance is for the big accidents in like that will be very difficult to cover out of the pocket. what you have here is a bad cover. new after market cover is about $150, paint and install for $250. $400 and it'll look as good as new. These prices at from small local repair shops NOT the dealerships. If you're by Springfield, MA, let me know, I can repair that for you for that price. You can also try searching around for a used cover in same color. Gray is a very popular color.

Hit and runs are horrible, unfortunately, insurance companies usually always rip you off in these cases, at least in my experience.

First off I border southwick, MA (20-30mins to you?)and its more than just that bumper cover I believe. The plastic above/around the wheel well was mostly paint transfer but enough of my paint removed to "need" to be fixed. The headlight was just paint, however, and came off mostly. Through insurance I bet I could get the headlight replaced though. Those three things + paint +labor I would assume.
$400 for a bumper swap is great though, and I may take you up on that if thats the road I go.

Oh, and don't forget the side marker issue....

I was the victim of a hit & run before I got this car...was t-boned at night and he took off. Car got totaled. State Farm definitely took care of me though I would've preferred to have kept the car (but it wasn't old enough according to Illinois law).

Happened to me a couple months ago. Front bumper looked like an old tin garbage can. The insurance "preferred" shop quoted $895.
Took it to my mechanic, got it fixed and painted for $275.
I bought it with some big scratches and dings on the other corner anyways.

That sucks. I feel for you. I came out of a movie to discover my car all messed up from a hit. All I could do was look at the damage the other car had caused. I was pretty pissed, then I noticed the person who hit me had actually left a note with his contact information. Consider lowering your deductible, it'll cost more in the future, but is worth it if you don't want the high out of pocket costs.

you really wanted the 15 huh?

Since this thread is here I guess I will just say that 2 weeks ago ANOTHER blue audi hit my car in the same spot and took off, but a coworker saw her (elderly lady didnt even know she hit me) so I'm getting everything fixed for free now ...

Damn those idiotic drivers! Seriously! I agree with SLCPunk, those people driving around in rust boxes who don't give a second thought about their car should really get a slap to the face when they purposely endanger other people's property.

I was on my way to school one day and this old piece of crap was in the merging lane while I was side by side with it. Normally you are supposed to yield to cars going by when you merge, but not this guy, he tried to speed up and pass me but couldn't and it was just me, him, and the rail. I saw him out of the corner of my eye and slammed on the brakes and he narrowly side swiped me and during the entire time it seemed like the guy didn't even lift his foot off the gas.
