I won my class at Import Wars

I entered the super street class of Import Wars at Great lakes dragaway tonight. Its a single elimination bracket class of 15 seconds and slower. Tonight there was 6 cars in that class. I wanted to enter super mod which is 13 to 14.99, but it was 90 degress with heat index in the 100s today. My usual 14.7 to 14.9 car on motor never dropped below 15.2 all day. Here's my races:

1st Race:
My dial in: 15.20
My time: 15.62 with a .009 reaction time.
I won because my opponent broke out.
He ran a 15.07 with a .161 reaction time. He dialed in at 15.2. (Turbo PT Cruiser)

2nd Race...I got a freebie because there was 3 cars left and I had the best reaction time in the field from the 1st race.

3rd race:
My dial in: 15.40
My time: 15.46 with a .104 reaction time.
My opponents' dial in was a 17.10 (98 Honda Civic Coupe)
He ran a 17.35 with a .434 reaction time.
I went home with $200 in my pocket. It was really fun! Winning the money made up for the fact that my car was running painfully slow tonight.

Congrats .009 you were sooo close to red lighting but it paid off with a bye. Nice job of dialing in on that 2nd race.

Yeah...I always try to leave when I see the third yellow. That time I almost left too soon. Funny thing about my last time was I got off the throttle at the end because I was a good distance ahead of the guy. If I would have stayed in it I would have broke out.

Just thought I'd mention...If anyone is in the WI/IL area we need more participants in the import wars series. Come on out and play!

Great to see another racer. Once you win its in your blood forever.

$200 is pretty good, some races I only get $100 or $150.

Keep up the good work.

Thanx Jim. That means a lot coming from a racer like you. I figured Import wars would be a good way to start a more competitive type of racing. Its very fun and I encourage anybody who just goes to "test and tunes" to try out a more competitive venue.

I might be up at GLD tonight with some buddies. Not sure yet if I'm going to run or just watch and video their runs.

Hey money is money.

* Part of being a good racer is the ability to duplicate your runs over and over.

Makes me want to go. That's a good chunk of change.

Congrats. When is the next Import Wars scheduled for? How crowded was it?

September 20th I think. Look at great lakes website: www.greatlakesdragaway.com There's a import wars link on the left of the webpage. It hasn't been crowded at all this year...Maybe due to the economy. I got there at 4:00 and made quite a few test runs to dial in my car. Eliminations started at 7:00. Hopefully some other people can make it out next time. Tell any of your friends' with sport compact/ import cars.

jr shultz, have you noticed a difference in trap speeds between the lanes there? I went there for the first time in a year (only the 3rd time in my life at that particular track) and my trap speeds were a consistent 2-3mph faster in the right lane than in the left. I was trapping 101.xx in the left lane and 104.xx in the right lane, every pass (I made 7 passes, 3 left, 4 right, and they were all that way).

I have 2 Maximas... the DD is an 00 5-spd SE, black on black leather, bone stock except 17% tints all around.

The other one is the fun car (silver one), and the one I miss... it hasn't had an engine in it since July of last year... The 00 is SLOW comparatively...

Yeah, I have noticed that from time to time. Its not that much of a difference for me though. Maybe the day you went they had horrible track prep. A lot of IL guys says Byron is way better that Great lakes. Great Lakes is the closest track for me though.

I really hope you continue with your RACING, I can't explain what it is like when you win an event like you won, only you know how that feels but I do know I think you are in this for the long term whether you like it or not. Its like a disease, but thats good.

We do want to hear of your future events though and expect updates.

Great job! Just curious though, whats the elevation up there? Just curious because of the seemingly slow time, that would lead me to believe a high DA since you obviously can drive!

This da calculator: http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...ect+ET+and+MPH
showed about 5 tenths should be subtracted from the times that day. It was 90 with heat index over 100...Very humid. My car never ran so slow. Usually the car is 14.7 to 14.9 with out nitrous.
