Ap-Sign works question.

I hate chrome on my door handles. Someone here said they put vinal grapics over them, im just wondering what the finsih looks like. How will it look different from the paint? Does anyone have pics of any vinal grapics how does it look? Any comments encouraged. Btw i talked to someone from the ap-signworks it will only cost $12 to do this.

I think i remember someone saying that they used carbon fiber vinyl to cover up their chrome door handles. If you're talking about using something that is similar to your body color, then it would something similar but prolly pretty close. What color is your max?

Yea, I did that.... I think Shadow mentioned that he had it the same way on his car until he got the custom paint job.... hey man, remind me... I will take some pics for you on friday.. I got school all day tomorrow and when I'll be back home it will be dark already,
My max is superblack, the person u probably talked to was Jeff aka Shadow. That stuff is like 3-5 bucks per square foot, I didn't even cut out the exact shape of the handles, I just cut out circles with about 1" bigger in all dimensions of the door handle, then raised the door handle, put the vinyl on the surface and bend all the corners behind it.. Took me like 10 minutes to do all 4 doors.. I will post some pics so you can see it better, it's been almost 2 months and it held up very well. I think it looks good in contrast with the superblack color of the car. It will probably look good on any dark color car. I might do the same for my chrome trim around windows and I painted the stock chrome grille superblack to match the car color. Again, I'll post some pics 4 u friday.

I just did it. Got it from my local mall that sold stickers as such. Bought a small 8"x7" just in case i messed up, which i did. It cost only $6 though. Took minustes to do like NYCe said. It looks clean and tight and to the untrained eye looks painted. It a bit less shiny but much better than the chrome, ehh. Thanks for all the help, ill post pics as soon as i can, with and without. Thanks again

Nice
It is a lot cheaper and less hassle then having them painted professionally or swapping them out for body color door handles Besides the vinyl sticking so good, and being nice and flexible... It actually leaves no sticky residue when you remove it. I was surprised to see this when I took it off my dashboard, it wasn't sticky at all, but the stuff holds like glue.

I used the same stuff in a brushed aluminum look for my sunglasses holder for my 2k1. The door handle thing is interesting??? Post those pics when you get a chance.

They charged you $6 for a 8"x7" piece? For $6, I would have sent you a 24"x24" piece or something around that. Just for future reference, 8"x7" of vinyl costs us shops about 8 cents. The original $12 quote I gave you was for like 4 square feet of the stuff and Priority shipping.

I got a little ripped off.

No, carbon fiber is different. Carbon fiber vinyl is more like $2.00 a square foot, and you have to buy it in like 150 ft. rolls to get that price. If you ordered it from me, then it was like $3.75 per foot, + $4.50 for priority shipping. That's how it's $12.00. Most shops sell it for double my price. www.stickercity.com sells it for $10 per square foot plus shipping. Wish I could mark up my stuff 500%...

Ah, whatever. This is only a one time thing, maybe twice. $6 is not that much and i was able to buy it and get it doen in like 30 min. Besides what am i gonna do with 4sq. ft? I still had leftovers from the 8x7 peice. Ill keep you in mid for future reference though,if i have a big project, thanks

No, it's not a big deal. I just wanted to make sure people knew I wasn't trying to rip you off or anything. Yeah, it is more convenient to just go to the local store. If you need the stuff in quantity though, you know who to call.

Yeah, AP-Signworks is a good company.

Jeff (Shadow) sent me an immediate replacement of 2 sq. feet after I reported that the first one was damaged. Thanks.
