Protect my rims when mounting new tires
I bought new rims and my local guy is going to mount my tires tomorrow. I've NEVER had new rims and I'm feeling fanatical about keeping them looking new. What can I do to ensure they don't get scratched when he uses the big scary machine to mount the tires? I was thinking about maybe using blue painters tape? Any suggestions?
I wouldn't worry about it unless it's a mom and pop shop. Just ask them to be careful with them. Most places are if they see that they are brand new. See if there' a shop in your are with the newer "touchless" mounting system.
I went to STS in Fogelsville, PA and they were great. Not a scratch on my rims, I was in and out in 1.5 hrs, and they were polite and efficient. It was nice to express my concern for keeping the wheels clean without feeling awkward or coming across as "high maintenance".

And in person, these wheels from OE Wheels, LLC in Florida look GREAT. I'm very satisfied.

I actually just had one of my chrome wheels remounted today and they do it from the rear side of the rim so they wont damage the front lip. Pretty sure they had some sort of pad put down for the front of the wheel so they dont get damaged also. Im right there with u...I just got mine brand new 2 weeks ago and was watching their every move ha
