Brake Booster Question

Few questions.

Just wondering if this sounds like a brake booster leak a few people have suggested for me.

I have a lower idle then usual. My RPM dips hard when I hit the brakes. I have an extremely bad loss of brake pressure. I can pump them up, say in neutral, And then if I put it in drive I can almost press them all the way to the floor. If I'm driving and have to slam on them quick it's not a smooth press down. It's like slamming your foot into a brick and then it releases about a second after your pushing and goes almost to the floor and locks up.
Oh and if I'm sitting at a stop sign per say, in gear, And I repeatedly pump the brakes my idle will dip to around 400-200 and bounce between unless I press the gas more.

I've driven my friends maxima to see the difference, and Mine just feel way mushy, the car has 240k on it so I can't exactly rule out anything. Everything brakes sometime.

Basically just wondering what you guys think. Since I've never had a brake booster leak, but what I've been reading up on it kinda sounds like it could be. I did have a leak in one of the hoses a while back but I replaced the whole hose system in and out of it. -shrug- lmk.

It could very well be. Are you hearing any hissing from the booster? Have you hooked up a vacuum gauge? Done a smoke test?

a smoke test would work best to fnd out if you brake booster is leaking,i would definatly try it first.but check and see if you hear a hissing.

Sounds like 2 problems.
If youou have a mushy pedal that goes all the way to the floor board like you say, then you have a bad Master Cylinder (MC). Your MC has probably leaked into your booster and destroyed it. Have you needed to add much fluid recently? You need to separate your MC from your booster and look for moisture.

I'll try all these. As for a sound, Yes I can hear a leak but with headers and intake the motor is a bit noisy, the sound is VERY VERY faint but I can still hear it. if I move the TB (as to let air in etc) when it revs up, as it's letting air in I can hear it pretty good, and it's not my Intake I know that. I was thinking it's comming more from the UIM (the back side) but it could just be my ears messing with me.

Smoke test I thought you just pull the hose from the booster and suck it through there so I figured it wouldn't even be going into the booster at all or am I thinking of the wrong thing here.

I suppose I can pull the MC this weekend and see what's up.

No, you don't remove any vacuum lines for a smoke test. Basically, you use a smoke machine to locate any source of vacuum leaks. A cigarette would work just as well, blow the smoke around and see if it's being sucked in anywhere.

Okay so I looked at my brake booster today and it has orange **** ran all down the front of it rusty color, like brake fluid ran down it. Sure sign of a Master Cylinder or BrakeBooster blown?

I'll be honest with you I'm starting to hate maximas. Brakes are bad so I buy new rotors, buy new rotors, and my starter goes the same day. buy a new starter now this ****?

Got another question.

Starter went out at work today. went and picked up a new one, put it in, car ran fine before work. ran fine up until the starter went. ran fine for about 10 mins after i put new starter in, then it started running rich, (but with my mysterious leak it says it's running lean) yada yada. it smells way rich. and about every stop sign or every time i let off the gas it drops to 500 rpm and bounces, if I don't hold the gas it dies every stop light, corner i go around slow anything. oh and when I got home I ran codes and got a misfire code, but drove the car around a few times and havn't got the code back.

What could I have possibly done between the time the starter went, to after i put in a new one that could have made it so my idle drops that hard? Everything is hooked up, looked over multiple times etc.

maybe when you were trying to start the car with the bad starter you flooded your injectors with fuel, drive on a highway or something and see what the results are, that should help burn off the excess gas
