Discontinued, huh? That sucks. I've got my local service manager trying to find a set right now.
Got the 411 on this and the problems. Apparently the supplier of these mats went out of business and they havent found a replacement supplier for these mats. There is no timeline when and IF they will carry these again.
The quest continues!
The quest continues!
Crap!
More on this...
The reason why the supplier shut down is that there was a huge backlash in the industry on floor mats. All because of what happened to Toyota last month with their recall and the deaths and all.
AutoPlace in Buffalo is recommending "WeatherTech" mats. They aren't a 100% perfect fit, like the OEM mats are, but he said they're a better quality.
Last, the Nissan Parts System number is 999E1MN001. For what it's worth, which is nothing.

I called this dealer in Huston Texas they have 1 set avalable the number is 281-243-8600.. if you want the OEM ones i would be all over this before they are gone forever!!
Yeah, AutoPlace. And yes, you got the last set they had in stock.
Small world, riceRocket.
I'll call them first thing in the AM. Thanks for the tip. I'll try, but as of this afternoon my local parts guy said there wasn't a set to be found anywhere anymore. We'll see tomorrow, I guess.

They're shipping it to NY for me... $54 plus a whopping $18 shipping.
Couldn't have done this without you, RiceRocket. That was very decent of you. Thank you very much.

That's Sterling-McCall Nissan in Houston. And you were right, they had exactly one set of all-season mats remaining in stock.

.
But when I called the Houston dealer (Sterling-McCall Nissan) based on RiceRocket's very helpful tip, I picked up the last set.
Nissan's dealership inventory system might be regional, or not real-time, or some combination of both. Either that, or they're "blowin smoke", as you said.
Try calling some dealerships on the west coast.
Good luck.
Same here. My Rochester dealer (Vision Nissan) and the Buffalo dealer (AutoPlace Nissan) both did a "nationwide search" and came up empty.

No, the 6th Gen mats will not fit. Here's the Courtesy Parts links for the 6th gen and 5th gen mats... take a look; they're completely different shapes:

Earlier this year, I replaced the frost-carpeted mats with new ones, but this time in black. Well, not quite black, but whatever Nissan calls their carpeted "black". Anyway, I like the contrast, but the drivers mat still discolors and warps under your heels after a while.
So I was thinking, maybe their winter (all-season) rubber mats might actually look better, even though they're rubber.
What's your opinion on that, RiceRocket?
I'll find out as well in a few days, but out of curiosity... do you like them better than your carpeted mats?

IMO, after putting all this effort into finding them, you should reward yourself with the actual purchase.

I think the grey color will give it a nice contrast, and look great
They want $40 to ship Fed Ex thats whats killing me.
I just put them in my car this afternoon, and i already like the rubbers much better then the carpets. it makes the interior feel durable. (you dont have to worry about staining the carpet mats anymore) one thing i did notice is that i put the rubber mat over the carpet mat and when i step on the clutch and put it to the floor my foot feels wierd..( like my heel is high up) i took out the carpet mat and tried just the rubber and it feels fine.

Now I understand your dismay. Unless they ship next-day-air only, that's not right. I don't think I could bring myself to pay pirate fees like that. Damn.
Here's a link to WeatherTech rubber mats for the 5th Gen.
They're very expensive when bought directly, about as much as the OEM mats plus those highway-robbery shipping charges.
The rubber mats showed up today. They match the black trim quite nice. The fronts are a perfect fit; the rears not so much. I think the rears are generic. And they are all seriously heavy, probably 3x the others.
Love the 2-tone look. Glad I went through effort to get them. Now I've got something new to armor all!

Yeah, Roy. The modified dead pedal from the 350Z... it's on my list.
Same here, about the 2-tone, and how dirty the mats were when I unboxed them. But they sure cleaned up nice. We'll see in a few months how they hold up to road salt dripping off my boots.
And did you notice how freaking heavy they were, too! I felt a little self-conscious, willfully adding all that weight to the car.
You know, it's kind of a shame all this info is here in a classified thread.

Front mats are a perfect fit, even better than the carpeted mats, don't you think? But I have to agree with you on the rears. I think they're one-size-fits-all.
I see you've got the 350Z dead-pedal going on, too, just like Roy. You guys are killing me.

FINALLY!
Got mine today, previously enjoyed, from Ebayer. Need a little scrubbing but will be good as new and literally 1/3 the price if I ordered them from the dealer and shipped it. Oddly the listing was for an 1989-1993 Maxima but given the pics he provided and some detective work they were exactly the same mats as the 2000-2003. Weird.
