did an engine job in a shop yesterday, got too much transmission fluid, maybe one and half quart more. could this damage the transmission? like the seal.

According to the instructions that come with shift kits these dipsticks are low by 1/2 qt anyways, but I'd recommend pulling a quart out just in case, I've done it before and it's not that bad, actually I did it after a motor job on a pathfinder very recently and I just kept pulling the drain plug while the engine was running to get it just right, made checking it easier but be careful obviously don't drop the plug. FYI to fill it easier next time hold your foot on the brake, throw it in gear, and rev it a little (foot brake it like you were at the line), makes the level drop much faster.
