Dirty INSIDE moonroof glass?

Very disturbing. Especially when you're trying to keep the interior clean only to find this.

Well, the wife was driving and I was checking out the interior when I saw the moonroof glass was covered in dusty dirt like from a construction area. Pretty obvious layer of dust at first look.

But when I put my hand to it, it was on the INTERIOR side of the moonroof glass. Having the Premium package, I checked the rear roof glass and it was clean in and out. What the heck?

The moonroof has only been open a few times the last month. And I figured since it opens to the outside it gathers the dirt.

Has this happened to anyone?

Right. And it also happens inside the door jambs and sills, moreso with this 7th gen Maxima than with any car I have ever owned. I do sort of expect this on the glass, and that is something that I am used to. But the constantly filthy door sills annoy me. Only takes driving about a mile in the rain to slather all four sills with filth.

Just curious Dad...do you smoke? Or is it the crap that comes throught the HVAC system that leaves a film on your windshield?

No. No. No. Pay attention.

This is not a grimy film, nor some grit left from rainwater.

This is a thick accumulation of particulate dust that somehow get only on the underside of the moonroof. Not the side windows, not the windshield, not on the seats either.

You can swipe your finger along the underside of the glass and it is blackened by the dust picked up.

What's weird is it seems to be electrostatically attracted to the under glass and nowhere else.

Now, anyone else collect thick grimy dust on the underside of the moonoof glass?

Can't be. Asbestos lines the heater ducts and smells like lilacs. Try it.

My moonroof glass dust is the same color as shock tower isolator rubber as it crumbles. Kinda black/gray.

Speaking of dirty interior moonroof glass, mine is very strange. It's not dirty, but has some sort of wavy lines in it when I go to clean it that never comes off. Very bizarre, but also very annoying!

It's most noticable when the interior glass seems to fog up. But, upon cleaning it, you can still see it a little bit 'underneath' so to speak.

Anyone else notice this?
