Starter spins with key removed from ignition.

Car sat since thursday night. I try to fire it up a few hours ago. It started, ran for 3 seconds and sputtered til it died. Attempts to start again resulted in solenoid spinning but no engagement. Then I remove the key but it keeps cranking til the battery died. Now batter is at 0volts and as soon as I connect the jumper box, starter starts spinning. Removed the ignition switch completely same thing. Removed power cable from starter and jumped it directly, it cranked and stopped. Connected the power back up, turn the key, car started, sputtered and died. I unplugged the small small starter connector, same thing happens.
I'm assuming the solenoid is stuck open.

the starter is 2 months old has 1500 miles on it. I hate it when I listen to people's advice and end up getting screwed over. Should've gotten a AZ starter in the first place. Now I gotta get one anyway and send mine in for replacement.

what kinda advice u talking about? anyways, this same thing happened to me last month, but turns out it was a bad starter to begin with, either that or it wasnt grounded correctly. I still dont know what the reason was for it, but a different starter fixed my issue. mine was grinding, etc. the one that just spun on its own actually tested good on the tester too, i guess cuz it still spun, idk. so a tester may not even reveal an issue.

advice was to get a dealer starter and not bother with autozone.
Even if the autozone one is a POS, I can go and ge it replaced any day of the week until 10pm.

new starter is in. cranks and cranks and cranks, feels like it's about to start and cranks and cranks and cranks. Same **** as when I was getting it fixed months ago except this time I know all the grounds are good.
I'm at a complete loss with this car.

Happen to me too. Seemed that I had over tightened the bolt attached to the ground I think?? Or the positive?? I back up the bolt and it was good...

something tells me it's the god damn cold start bs. Car finally fired up after cranking for a good 20 seconds. Had it jumped from another car and a battery pack.

is it a healthy crank, or does the starter sometimes lock up, or sound like its hitting the flywheel?
