Power Window Trouble - Diagnosis?

Howdy,

Today I noticed that my drivers window rolls up (smoothly and strongly) until its about 2" from the top, then it sorta shifts within the frame and slows to a stop. I can push it up if I back it down and use my hand along with the power window switch to get it to the top. I checked the window seals but they're clean and free from obstructions.

This is a job I'd like to do myself. I guess I'll remove the door panel and have a look. Before I do this, any idea of what the problem is? I think the motor is strong, but maybe something is worn causing it to shift near the top of the travel.

I wouldn't use white lithium grease. It will make a mess and your rubber window track will be all white. I would use what he said. Rubber silicone spray. You should spray all four window tracks to be honest. The rubber gets old and dry over time and makes the glass harder to slide in the track. Plus it will help save your window motors.

Alright. Just to be clear, what should I spray, exactly? Just the black rubber/plastic that the window glass slides in?

yeah, the rubber piece where the window fit into and slides up and down in. Just rolls the window all the way down and run the spray can up and down the rubber track as you are spraying. Do it on both the front track and rear track of each window.
