Performance Enhancement "Real or Imaginary"

Check this out

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perfo...item19b8e7461e

Not that I really need this, but was looking thru Ebay on my lunch break at what they are trying to sell for our Maximas and this one popped up.

I wonder if this would actually help at all.

It sure do talk a good game, but it could also be nothing or something to smoke my several hundred dollar MAF.

An increase in 40hp and 5mpg for $25. Gee, how could you go wrong with that?

Maybe you could try it out and report back.

Does it please the ladies?

The ad mentions it modifies either the IAT or MAF signal. What performance gain can be had by modifying the IAT signal?

Stay away, or try it and report back.

I can make you the same thing with part from Radioshack, will you pay me $19.99?

Don't buy it, it's snake oil product. Resistors meant to trick ECU the IAT is lower, that's all.

Combine this with the sprint booster, and you could see some real gains.

Oh crap. You're going to get yourself in trouble for that one. Besides, I thought you ordered the booster with catch & release skepticism? C'mon, Sparks, why don't you test out the Performance Enhancer, too?

Wasn't planning on buying.

Just thought it would be a good thread

I'm older than I want to admit.

I've worked for 25 years as a Elect Engineer and 8 of them for GM (Yes, I hate to admit that). If something smart existed that lets you get power/response, better mileage, driveability, and still meet emissions they would have done it.

That's not to say that you can't increase one or two of the above by sacrificing the third. Or comfort. Or drivability.

Most of the things on cars are compromises trying to keep everyone as happy as possible.

Kind of depressing actually.

But op don't buy it, that's like putting neons under your car and driving around in a wife beater on the way to pick up your girl friend from middle school....

Crap are they Illegal in the US? I guess cars driving around legally with such unbridled throttle responsiveness could cause problems.

Well hopefully they get past customs using overnight shipping.

Nothing wrong with asking questions about products on the market. It's just too bad there are so many people that are over 18 going on 12...

All these chips do is tell the ECU that the temperature is something that it is not which leans out the car, which WILL gain horsepower, albeit not safely. You will most likely cause some damage with prolonged use, or WOT runs.

Not just leans it out, but adds a lot of timing also. The stock ECU also doesn't check for knock above 5000 rpms. Seems like a bad combo.

Dude I got mine in yesterday and installed! ITS AMAZING! It increases throttle response so much that before I even put my foot on the gas I was screaming down the road at mind blistering speeds.

With the dual sprint boosters wired in series for maximum powa? Don't forget the electric supercharger, intake tornado and pulstar plugs.

Also buy a set of Nology hotwires and splice them into your coil packs to supercharge your ignition. A home made rear diffuser can also make you go faster at high speeds. Plus, garage door insulator front air dams can increase stability at high mph when reinforced with flat black paint or made of carbon fiber. Carbon Fiber hoods and trunks (also interior pieces and side view mirrors) can be serious weight reducers and give you a lower center of gravity for powerful launches.

With all of these things combined you could be truly fast without spending much money at all.

Don't forget to strip the interior, if you haven't already.

See. "What did I tell ya?"

A good thread that everyone jumps on for a otherwise boring middle of the week day.

I've been laughing all afternoon.

Laughing?

This is serious business, how to setup a proper race car. Sparks03max just gave everyone the magic formula; respect.

The most powerful maximas have no interior and 1 racing seat. You can make a pretty leather padded wrapping (red, green... maybe orange) for daily driving and remove it at the race track or at the local street racing meet. Make sure to have a 6-point harness because it is "comfy." You must reduce weight and increase HP (HP TO WEIGHT RATIO) in order to combat VTEC and other forced induction vehicles like V8s.

On topic of this post, this device will actually increase power, especially in warm weather. It may also cause detonation in warm weather.

I would not risk it.

I disagree. Two front seats, full dash, plastic pillar trim, carpet, regular seatbelts, and a leather rear bench seat.

You could remove the rest of that stuff and gain 40 sweet pounds of power to weight ratio reduction.

Not that he'd have anything to do with them.
