New 5th Gen Intake!! It's here!

Hey guys. I'm working for a company called Berk Technology and they've developed a 5th gen intake. I'm announcing it to you guys because we didn't have enough choices out there until now. This is the prototype piece that I have on my car. The production piece will be polished or powder coated. I had three differnt intakes (Stillen, Jim Wolf, Berk Tech) on my car and the Berk Tech intake had the best low end of the bunch. Top end was the same for all. We still need the dyno results to back this up.

Looks like a pop charger?

But this is no different than a popcharger?

What is the advantage? price?

Price and performance. What more could you ask for. A name brand?

A little rough around the edges...

In fact, a poorly designed intake can hurt more than help you.

No, I am not insinuating anything about this intake from Berk (who?).

I just question the amount of R&D in the unit. Can't wait to see the Dyno's. If it gives good performance, then it could be a good deal.

Can you explain to me that why this intake provides more torque than Stillen and JWT????

It looks like any other underhood intake = sucking hot air------

Thanks

Because of the size and shape of the filter it provides more vacume at low throttle. Bigger is not always better. I need to get this on a dyno first to see if this is true or not. I used my butt dyno to come to the conclusion that it had better low end. Like I said in my first post, I need to put a test car on a dyno.

Really, filter size will affect engine's torque to a point that is noticeable to the drivers???? Very interesting...keep us updated

That is just a generic cone intake!! It doesn't even have the better velocity filter. LOL

I'll wager $20 that the JWT and/or Stillen intake will put down higher numbers than that filter. Why? Because your adapter is just an adapter. The other units use an adapter that is also a velocity stack to take advantage of the venturi effects.

Very much agree....

and yeah it looks like just regular generic intake that sells online for like 50bucks including the MAF adapter.LOL

Ahhh yes... now we have the attack fellow .org members stage. He's willing to dyno the car with the different intakes to see which is better. I don't really see how you can attack him if he's willing to do that. He's being nice and giving everyone a heads up about a new intake that he's working on. He said it felt faster. That's his opinion and he's willing to dyno it to see if his "feel" was right. Give the guy a break.

I agree, give the guy the benefit of the doubt and let him prove his mods worth. But, then again his design did appear to be very basic even to my untrained eyes.

Amen. From the looks of it everyone who posted is right, but you never know. Dyno charts will prove things... although those can be off by 4-5hp per run... argh.

Ah, yes, the infamous butt dyno - able to sense a 3 HP gain. Was that an SAE corrected butt dyno? Did you have big fans on your butt the whole time? Were your pants open to provide proper cooling?

According to my BUTT DYNO 2000 (the newest and best), a banana up the tailpipe is good for at least 11.2 HP at the wheels.

And if you get the GT-R version, well that's good for 18.7 HP at the wheels. I say save the money, go buy a banana for $1, or import the GT-R version for around $7.50, and you will get more power. And if you get hungry, well.....

I agree, cut him some slack! At least he is attempting to increase the options of upgrading the MAX. Its not like he said that his intake is better than everyone elses. The problem is that everyone else that already bought the Stillen or JWT intake doesnt want it to be true cause they paid about $200 bucks(just like me ) But once he dyno's then we can give our opinion.

Ahhh, sketptics. One of the things that I notice about a lot of people out there is that they seem to love things that look fast rather than things that are fast. You see this stillen or JWT intake with a cool venturi intake and you're like, woa! Air must just fly into the engine! I'm going to dyno a car with three intakes and possibly a fourth. There's a fourth intake that I may use that has a design much like the old AEM intakes, with a velocity stack runnnig up the middle. Oh, and the filter in the picture is a K&N, Russ you were the one with the $10 Matrix filter, not me. Happy Driving.

I have every right to be skeptic since I've been doing this stuff for years. I haven't been wrong in many cases (for those that know me from twinturbo.net and the old school Maxima forum members).
