Apology Accepted. VB = Valve Body.

BTW it is NORMAL for the 1 - 2 shift to be hard. Atleast that's what I have heard from this board. Mine (99 SE with 30 K miles) has been doing it since I bought it brand New on 1/1/1999.

sometimes, if you time it right, when it shifts to 2nd, you can floor it and it just takes off like a bat out of hell. unless of course you are were graced with a manual max.

Try Lubegard? Comments welcomed

I have heard excellent things about a product called Lubegard. Can't yet vouch for its performance. Plan on using it with my 88 Acura -- which (unlike my smooth shifting Maxima) has a clunky transmission.

Can anyone provide insights about Lubegard?
