How to get rif of interior sqeak?

I have a sqeaking problem with an interior piece and having trouble removing the piece to STOP the sqeaking. Looking for suggestions.

The piece is located on the right side of the dash board. Its the plastic piece that runs from the front right corner of the dash to the ceiling that includes the Bose tweeter. Everytime I hit a bump it just sqeaks and drives me nuts. I tried removing the piece, assuming that it just pops out of place, but I could tell right away this was not going to be successful.

Any suggestions of how to remove and/or stop the sqeaking? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I took them out a couple of times. I think it's easy to start on the top side. Take out weather rubber seal first then just grab two sides of the plastic piece, wiggle the piece meanwhile use some force away from the car body. It feels very tight but that's the way out. BTW, I used some duct tape ans stick it to the dash surface where it faces the A-pillar plastic cover. It eliminates the squeak completely.

You could try to stuff the space behind the pillar with some foam or styrofoam.

ahh

I have the same problem. Looks like Nissan did an awesome job on putting together a good interior. scarcasm*
It's something to the right of me, at first i thought it's the dashboard rubbing against the door panel, but then again, who knows
How did you determine that was the part squeaking?

Yes it was the dashboard rubbing against the door panel, if thats not it, take a look at the door, the door could be squaking against the dashboard

Door panel squeak

Recently I found my front passenger door squeaked when I drive on some bumpy road. If I push the door panel against the door (push outwards) the sueak changes or stops. So I stoped and parked the car, and push the door panel. It did gave squeak. I took out the panel and put a piece of duct tape on the inside of panel all around, with careful alignment so after putting back the tape is not visible. I did it to all doors. Absolutely no squeak of that kind.
Now I think I have last squeak that sounds like from the left side of dash.

i have the same problems, door and a-pillar. what's the fix again? put a double sided tape where? in the small gap between the a-pillar and the dash? this fixes the problem? and for the door, use the duck tape to tape what? the plastic moisture barrier?

Duct tape

Oops I didn't say clearly. I cut duct tape to about 1/2 inch or less. Stick it along the inside edge of the plastic door panel all around. There is already some black material all around the edge that looks like it's for squeak elimination. But for some reason it does not work well. So my duct tape sticks on top of that thing and worked perfectly.
Also there are maybe two big pieces of hard foam thing (not sure what to call them, white coloered) that I covered them all with duct tape.
BTW I also popped out the power window control module and the door pocket handle, and wrap those openings with duct tape around. Vertually no more squeak, no matter where I push the door panel, wiggle the control module and the pocket handle, silent.
I like to use the duct tape.

I paid $22600 even (out the door)for my 96 GXE, plus duct tape of just a few $, still cheaper than 5th, with the SAME no squeak quality... j/k

Yeah;

The 4th gens are fairly cheaply engineered -- really flimsy sheet metal in the doors and body panels -- and of course the squeaky A pillars. I have the same problem too on the right side A Pillar -- I once tried taking it out and couldn't. I was pulling with so much force that I thought I would break it if I didn't stop. So I gave up. Now I just live with the squeaking --

When the 95 Maxima came out, it was touted as a whole lot of car for the money. I've kinda changed my mind about that.
I hope the new 350Z doesn't turn out to be that way with the build quality.

I just did this...

These are basically all the instructions (as jiaxima96 said:
1. Pull of weather seal (no adhesives just a tight fit).
2. Pry top of pillar with a screw-driver. YOU WILL NOT BREAK IT.
3. Pry the middle and bottom with hands and it will come off easily.
4. Put some type of foam or tape in there.
5. Reinstall

I used some foam padding I had laying around. I haven't even driven the car (did it 15 minutes ago after reading this post), so I'll let you know tomorrow how it works. It seems to keep the pillar taught, but as people said the rattle can be coming from the bottom. Only one way to find out though....

Maybe when it was new it didn't squeak like now? 6 years old car. I don't remember exactly my 96 5 1/2 yeas ago. Yes the interior trim is not quite solid and tight, as one auto expert said in one review such as "... some interior materials are cheap but obviously Nissan's assemby detail is good..."(not the exact word). However Maxima's mechanical thing is very very satisfying.
BTW I was in a company friend's 98 Accord today, 4-cylinder auto. I purposely pushed the door panel, trim and toughed around. Very solid and tight. Oh the road noise level is high.

!!!!!I AGREE TOTALLY!!!!!

Dear Nissan,
If you read this site PLEASE do NOT, I repeat, "DO NOT" get the interior materials from the 99 cent store for the 350Z. FIRE all the engineers that worked on the quality structure of the 4th generation Maximas. BUT, keep the ones who worked on the VQ. Rehire all the engineers that build the 3rd gens BUT fire all the ones who worked on the VE engines if you haven't done so. I pledge to keep purchasing Nissans as long as I don't have to use duct tape to shut the car up. I really hope the new Zs interior is of better quality than the new 02 Altima! If I wanted to buy a car with carboard interior I would of done so with Ford. Have Nissan engineers been hanging around Ford engineers???

Call me cheap, as I'll continue to buy Nissan as long as they design it cheap, sell it cheap, and I can shut the car up with a cheap duct tape. Way to go saving $$$...again J/K

You know my Altima is noiser than Max. One time I just wanted to feel how a super luxury car drives. I plugged my two ears with some cotton and I immediately got a "Lexus"...

Yes please keep the same engine, tranny, etc. and carboard all other non-moving parts. Then this modded car is so light that it'll be the quickest and fastest max...forget about all other mods...

jiaxima96,

Dude! Wasn't a believer in the duct tape idea but this tip is definitely THE REAL DEAL! At least on the front doors, I've had buzzing and squeeks for quite some time and have never had a good cure for them. To be honest, I've taken off the panels a few times and blamed myself for the noise from doing that. Well, after buying a roll of 3M duct tape and taping up the edges of the inside door where the edge of the clear plastic sheet was, the front doors are now squeek and buzz free. I can't believe it almost!!! The dame thing was buzzing to the tune of my music and with bumps, but now is totally absent!

Forget this talk of subframes... just getting the buzz and squeeks out makes me feel like my max is so much more solid!
