P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor (Phase) Circuit (Bank 1)
My 2003 started cutting out on the freeway the other day, and one time while starting out (it's a 6 speed) it completely died and wouldn't start back up until after about 10 tries then it ran fine but the check engine light was on. I had it checked and they pulled P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor (Phase) Circuit (Bank 1). Well I did some research and found this recall http://www.internetautoguide.com/aut...ima/index.html
so I called Nissan and they said all recalls have been cleared for my VIN so my question is.. The recall says the remedy is to replace crank position sensor, camshaft position sensors, and sometimes the variable timing control sensor(s). Will I need to replace all of those sensors or just the Camshaft position sensor?

Hey, same thing happened to me a couple of months ago...had to replace all three sensors (2 camshaft and 1 crank position sensors). There's another thread which was started yesterday with a similar issue. Might want to check it out: http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...-no-power.html
I have an '03 6-speed and had an intermittent rough idle during warm up and got a P0340 code once about 6 months ago but mainly P0300 codes for the last 6 months. When looking up the P0340, I saw there was a recall but my dealer said the same thing about my car being "up to date" on all recalls. Since the recall suggested replacing all 3 sensors and to eliminate them as a possibility, I ordered all three new sensors (2 cam, 1 crank) from DaveB and swapped them out last week.
Unfortunately, the swap didn't solve my problem.
So that means that my old sensors were still good and I put them up in the F/S section if you want to save a little money over the price of new ones...
Good luck!
