For those of you with eBay cat-back fitment issues, here is a solution!!! (pictures)

I purchased the $129.99 (shipped) N1 cat-back from eBay and finished installing last night. The rear tip fit snugly against the rear fascia (bumper). Not good, as I knew the rear fascia already suffered melting from my previous oval tip rear section eBay exhaust, so off to PepBoys I went...

Picked up some longer rubber exhaust hangers for $3.99 a piece. Two are all you need...

Replaced the two farthest OEM rubber hangers with these and...

PERFECT FITMENT!! NO ISSUES.

Gratuitous shot....

That's my car. Same exhaust.

OP, let me know if you have any issues with the exhaust banging with those new hangers on. I had to re-adjust my exhaust a few times to get it right because those made it sit TOO low.

I've got OBX V2s run with this exhaust setup. It's noisy as hell.

It's by no means ricey. Just loud. Once I get up to around 75 and cruise at highway speeds, it's not too bad unless you step on it to pass someone.

Of course, part of the noise is also a result of my muffler still rubbing against my bumper and the sound telescoping.

All I did was head up the two rear bracks off the muffler and bend them upward. ........

I'm planning on cutting the muffler off and having it replaced. IMO, the 4.5" tip really looks tacky because the bumper's design doesn't flow with the single over-sized tip.

I've got a friend who's going to weld on a nice, heavy-duty glass-pack muffler with 2.5" dual tips on it. Hopefully that will kill off some of the drone. If not, then I'm going to have him weld in another resonator alongside the wimpy one that came stock with this exhaust.

That is the same plan I have down the road. But for $129.99 shipped, I could NOT pass this mandrel bent tubing up. I got it from eBay seller ILOVETACOTACO

00-03-NISSAN-MAXIMA-V6-N1-4-5-CATBACK-EXHAUST

Even if I get a nice stainless Magnaflow dual tip or similiar, I'll be right at $200 for a nice cat-back...

I totally agree. Mandrel bent tubing is mandrel bent tubing. So long as it is actually made from stainless, which, as far as I can tell, these are.

My exhaust piping has turned sort of a bronze color in the last year it's been on, but I've seen minimal rusting anywhere. I'm planning on wrapping/silicon coating it in the spring, anyway.

I agree, Im not 100% happy with the big 4.5 inch tip but like you said, for the price you can't go wrong.

I was plan on doing the same thing someone said in a previous post about buying this and just replacing the muffler. I just have a quick question though, isn't this exhaust 2.25" and if it is, does it really make any diffrence whether it's 2.25" or 2.5"? I don't plan on headers or anything, I have an intake, test pipe to be installed and I'm gonna get a y-pipe soon if that makes any difference...

From what I remember, the exhaust setup I bought has 2.5" piping. I'd have to go out and measure to be honest, since it's been on the car for quite some time.

But yes, 2.25-2.5-3.0" piping does make quite a big difference on our cars. People with 3.0" piping and a y-pipe have been making significant gains over those with the 2.5" piping.

Remember. Area of a circle is pi*r^2 (or pi*d). So when you figure out the surface area of a cross-section 2.25" piece of pipe, it's quite a bit smaller than that of a 2.5" pipe.

Correct. It is 2.25 The flange inlet seems to be 2.5 But I can't confirm. To be honest, I don't believe there is much difference here...Were talking about a cheap exhaust system. If you are worried about something like that then this exhaust is not for you. Cattman or Megan would something more for you.
My OEM exhaust broke and I didn't want to spend $$ for something I could careless about. I didn't want exhaust fumes in my cabin!

And to agree with the above poster. 2.25 or 2.5 compared to the 3.0 Is where the difference is...I wish..

I have no rattle and never did. I had none when it was snug against the rear fascia and I still have none with the longer hangers.

These are massed produced, so the possibility of quality control is highly unlikely. Every one of these units could and will fit differently and every person will probably run into a different issue than the other person.

Just to note in this thread, I am now convinced that the "Custom Maxima" 2.5" single tip catback is none other than a resold ebay catback. I wonder if he's going to the point of ordering them off ebay then selling them to us for $200+???

His cat-back not only looks 100% identical, even in welds and hanger placement, but also has the same fitment issue.

Maybe that's why the dual tip 2.5" took so long, he had to convince the ebay retailer to start making dual tip ones so he could resell them to us for more!!!

Yes you are 100% correct sprint booster.

I realized this a while ago.

It is a scam and there is no denying it, and if it really isn't an eBay catback, it is still pointless to buy it because you can get the eBay one for $100 cheaper.

And apparently the eBay catback is actually 2.25" piping instead of 2.5". I wonder if the CM is the same way.

Yes, from what I can tell, for whatever reason, they used 2.25 I.D." piping, but then expanded the ends to 2.5" O.D. to fir the 2.5" flanges. Either way, $129.99 shipped! for mandrel bent stainless 2.25" piping is a steal!!!!!

Perfect this is exactly what I was looking for. I opted to heat up the metal hangers and slightly bend them upward in order to keep the muffler from touching my bumper. I originally looked in my local auto-parts stores and never found a hanger significantly wider than the oem one. I guess I have to keep looking...

As for the actual piping size, I really do believe that the one I recieved is indeed 2.5 all the way through. When placed side to side with the oem catback, it looks significantly bigger without a doubt. Although I must admit, I can't even complain if it is 2.25 because I only paid $140 shipped.

Yeah I'm deciding whether I should get this or the custommaxima one. I've heard custommaxima uses better parts but I'm not sure... I emailed Tom and asked him... He's the CM guy. We'll see.

Oh, and I'd like to know.... if this exhaust ends up being too loud (drones), what type of resonator should I get welded in, where should I get it, and how much will it cost???

Well, as a back-up plan I purchased this...

$9.99 shipped from eBay. Should be here in a few days.

Just in case. This exhaust does drone on freeway between 2k-2.5k which is around 65-72 MPH
