p0171 / Turbine Revolution Sensor / TCM

Hey everyone -

My 05 is tossing this code, and based on the service manual this means that the circuit is bad or the sensor died.

I replaced the sensor, and am still getting the code (which throws the car into fail safe mode 1, 4th gear and reverse only). Where is the TCM on these cars? My next step is to trace the wire and see if there is a short somewhere....but I am pretty sure there shouldn't be.

Can the TCM (trans control module) be reset - and if there was a problem with the sensor would it need to be? The car drives normal for about a minute before tripping back into fail safe mode - which is getting very annoying.

I did a search here and found nothing, and very little help on the web for this code and our cars....so I'm hoping someone can shed some light

Thanks.

Thanks, but it looks like the P0171 on 00-03 MAx's is MAF....on the 04-08 P0171 is specific to the TRS on the trans.

I know it's an odd code, since there is no mention of it on these forums for an 04-08 so I'm shooting in the dark hoping to hit something before I bite the bullet and take it to the dealer
