5.5th gen grille for 5th gen?

I attempted to search for others folks who have retrofitted the 5.5th gen grille to a 5th gen Maxima. I'd like to update my '01 Maxima with a grille from an '02/03 (bolder, more aggressive). Is the shape and connecting hardware compatible?

Thank you.

in the 02-03 the center grill is a separate piece that is removable. in the 00-01 the center grill is part of the bumper. you would have to cut it, retro the 02-03. not too sure about 100% fitment as far as shape. BUT its been done.
im open to feedback as well on this

How is this integrated with the bumper? Looks like a separate piece to me.

I notice that the bumper on the 5.5 has creases not on the 5 model. Oh well, it looks as if a bumper/grille replacement would be necessary for the refresher. That's a little bit above what I'm willing to spend.

This is correct. The molding 'appears' to be a separate piece but it is actually connected to the rest of the bumper (you can see behind the bumper w/ it removed how it's connected)

Not sure about the 5.5 oem grille, but as a33 mentions, some folks have managed to get grills that were for 02-03 to fit onto an 00 01.

You would definitely have to cut out the 00 01 grill as well as the perimeter ring.

thanks everyone.
im on the same boat but not real interest in updating my grill alone.
i rather save $$ and buy new 03 headlights and new bumper cover if you really want the 02+ look.
