Well, I did a seach of rear speaker removal and for someone like myself who is not mechanically inclined, it looks hard. My question is, do you guys think that I should attempt to do this or should I get it done professionally. Also, do you think professional installers know how to do it correctly. Also, do 6 1/2 speakers fit?

 

It's not hard. Just take it slow. And it's easier to get to the speakers in the rear than it is for the front.

Pros should know how to do it correctly. But do it yourself and you know you're doing it correctly. Besides, if you are stuck, you can always come on the Org and ask... or find someone in your area that has done stereo stuff before.

6 1/2 can fit but technically, the size is supposed to be 6 3/4. You might have to drill extra holes or something.

 

carefull with the rear pillar plastic covers.. they can break easily.. specially in cold weather

 

Hmm...I always thought it's easier for me to get to the front speakers than the rear ones.

some 6.5's come with mounting tabs that make them fit 6.5S (oversized 6.5 aka 6.75) .. the Infinity Kappa's come with those.. they fit fine in my rear.

btw, if youre doing it yourself.. go get one of those wrench screwdrivers. (you turn it like a wrench/rachet/whatever) but its holding a phillips head. this lets you fit the screwdriver into the rear deck to secure the speakers in.
