Rotors making hissing/grinding noise after bearing replacement

Hey ya'll,

Just finished installing a brand new hub/wheel bearing on the driver's side. Feels great, runs smooth.. Except a hissing/grinding noise is slowly getting louder and louder. It was barely noticeable at first and now it is very annoying and semi loud. Any ideas? Possibly another issue? The install was clean. I noticed my control arm could use replacing, but nothing that would cause a hissing/grinding noise. It sounds like ssssssssss like a piece of metal is hitting the rotor. I checked, no scratches (at least on the outside of the rotor). I'm about doooone with my max at this point. I wanted to make it last 300k, but jeez, it's almost getting to cost too much in replacement parts. Help me out fellas

Edit: Also, the car does not run true (it didn't before I replaced), but I did a wheel alignment not too long ago, same thing. I'm thinking the control arms or tie rods or rack and pinion... Lots of play in the wheel, wants to grab early, etc.

Maybe the rotor shield cover is scratching the rotor if you bend it a little during the installation? It is on the back side so you won't be able to see scratches from the front side.

I agree, sounds like the dust shield rubbing. if you have an open rim design you can push it back if you go around the edge of the rotor with a screwdriver.

Thank you gentleman. I took a screwdriver and pushed the dust shield back along the edges and it seems to have gone away. . I cant believe it was actually something simple this time.

On the topic of the play in the steering wheel now, how does one tell if their rack and pinion is bad?

lift the car up and squeese the dust boots on the rack and see how much fluid is in the boots. you could also pull the boots off and see how the rack looks.
